I believe the only proper way to do it is a complete reinstall. If you've been at it for a few weeksnow then go ahead and get rid of it, but if it's only been a few days then I would encourage you to keep at it. Several people I know couldn't stand it when it came out, all I heard was "they ruined this game" and "this is too hard, it can't have been this way", but they stuck it out and now they love the patch. A big secret to enjoying this patch is learning to trim properly. Wahtever you decide, good luck.
"The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.[Europe], under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep. If once [the people] become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress, and Assemblies, judges and governors shall all become wolves. " - Thomas Jefferson
With past patches it was possible to revert to the previous version by simply reinstalling the previous patch, so try reinstalling 3.04m or 3.04 for standalone and see if it works.
If not just reinstall the game, patch to desired version and have fun.
Hi,
Just delete the entire IL2/PF folder, and replace it with the backup copy you've made of it, just before you installed 4.01.
And just in case you did not make a backup copy just before you installed 4.01. ...
Well, try and make a backup copy of the users folder, the campaigns folder ... (and maybe others, like skins and such, and maybe conf.ini) then uninstall it, delete the remnants of the IL2/PF folder, and do a re-install! After that, copy the users folder, the campaigns folder ... (and maybe others, like skins and such, and maybe conf.ini) back to the newly installed IL2/PF and you should be good to go.
(Then, make a backup copy of the IL2/PF folder for future use ...)
And then .... Have Fun!
P.S. You may just want to try to install 3.04m over it ... who knows it might even work!
If so, post back here, looks like you'd make some other people happy!
Yes!! Yes!! Praise the Lord!! Repatching to 3.04 worked. I thank you guys so much!! Now that I know it's that easy, maybe (I said MAYBE), I'll switch back and forth.![]()
