Which Operating System would Devs recommend for LOMAC? | Forums

It seems clear and understandable that as cutting edge technology, LOMAC will test systems in the extreme and as such, at the moment, getting the fastest possible system is obviously necessary to get the most out of the simulation.

However, when it comes to Operating Systems, it doesn't seem so clear to me.

At the moment I am running W98se with the below hardware. I've been holding out for LOMAC, but I smell it in the air and I think it is time for me to upgrade CPU, mobo and RAM to the biggest I can afford.

At the same time I will replace OS etc.

Devs (and testers) - Can you please advise which Operating System will give best performance for LOMAC?

Id go with XP Pro, it seems to be the best OS for gaming out of them all.

I agree that XP Pro is the best OS. I have had just about all of them or have seen them in use and this is the best. Also I would go for as much ram as you can get and the fastest processor that you can get. Well hope this helps.

I read in the past win2000 is the OS Lomac is being developed on so it should run fine on win2000 as well. Hopefully this is still the case.

Windows xp for reliability and user ability and compatibility.

XP Home is fine for gaming. You don't need Pro.

Do you really think that Windows XP Professional Edtition will outperform regular Windows XP Home Edition?

I happen to have Windows XP Pro, but I do not see where it would outperform Widowns XP Home Edition when it comes to gaming.
