Thread: Deck guns/ AA guns cannot be used in storms | Forums

Anyone know the exact definition of a storm? I can't seem to use my Deck gun or AA gun in a sea with a light chop...clear weather and no fog...and it says this is a storm.

Its seems in campaign when I am in a light or rough chop AI can shoot at me with deck guns but, I cannot shoot back because it says guns cannot be manned during storms and then my weather reports there are no storms. Is a storm by definition in the game choppy water? and can you only man guns when water is like glass? and why doesn't AI go by the same logic? I am not sure if this is a bug or not I haven't seen anyone else post it. But, nothing in manual describes different types of weather and what the defined limits are. i.e. what exact conditions allow you to fire etc.

Any help will be much appreciated. I'm just anxious to use my deck and flak gun but, never get the chance to because of the somewhat rough water around enemy and neutral areas....it seems i can only man it around germany....Is anyone else having this problem?

I'm off the coast of England right now and not having problems. From what I've seen elsewhere, the game does a good job with modeling how lousy the north sea winters are.

I still think it might be a little too sensitive to sea-states, though, when figuring when you can and cant man the guns.

It seems to classify a storm when the wind is over 7m/s even if there isn't a cloud in the sky, that makes the sea lap over the subs deck, so i guess in real life a sailor could be washed over board.

Ahhh ok.....now that makes sense...because I have been getting a very strong north wind...I never thought of that....I was just mad because the enemy seems to have a way around it and I don't.

The enemy has a much higher freeboard than a sub...

this is really annoying, I have been following a c2 merchant for 2 days now waiting to get my guns to finish him off. I have expended all torpedoes (but for 2 external I have no idea how to load) Light chopy seas, no clouds, guess too much wind yet.

doug1967- to use the external torps - first make sure your torpedo room is manned, then drag the external torp into one of the reserve tubes; NOT one of the main tubes.

Basically the crew will have to move it twice; from outside the sub to inside, and then agian into one of the torpedo tubes.
