Thread: chaos theory worth buying ?? | Forums

  1. #1
hey, so now that they finally patched for the inverted controls i was going to pick this up..

but iv been doing alittle reading and have seen many people complain about the terrible framerate
    specially in the first 2....

so i was going to pick up chaos theory, but dont want to waste any cash if the framerate is bad.

does it have a solid framerate or is it as bad as the first 2 ?

Keep in mind, they only patched the PSN downloadable versions, not the disc version yet. I played all three and there were some frame rate issues with all three (mostly the first two) but it certainly wasn't bad enough to make me not want the game. It only rarely happened and when it did it lasted only for a matter of seconds. I've played only the disc versions though and I seem to remember hearing that it was worse on the downloadable versions but I could be wrong. I would recommend just getting the disc version which they're apparently going to be patching soon. I hope this helps.

They patched the TRILOGY. Not just the individual Chaos Theory game.

I didn't buy Conviction, and neither should you. If you must get it, buy a used copy. Ubisoft is ruining their best franchise. I miss SCCT spy vs merc

well i went ahead and got CT, yeah it was the psn version as i need inverted to enjoy it.
iv played the first mission to check the performance, and im impressed with the quality and the performance seems solid..
im playing at 720p and iv read if you want to play at 1080p u need to uncheck 720 or it will auto play at 720p even when u have 1080 on,

ill see how 1080 performs later, im guessing 720 will give more stable framerate though.
and ill post my findings back here for others that might be wondering as i found *** all info apart from reviews saying how bad the framerate was =/

so far games seems good =]

    edit,
yeah, i know the whole trilogy has been patched for inverted, but all i could find was bad news about the framerate on the first 2, and i cant play a jerky game like double agent....

If you want to believe rumors instead of me even though I actually own all three games that's up to you. It's your loss that you won't be enjoying all three games.

man,...... after double agent i just dont trust ubi on the ps3..
i cant stand even a little slow down in games,
every single last little bit of info i could find on these games(reviews + forum posts) said about the poor framerate, specially on the first 2(i have played them all in there day and liked them though),
im happy right now with chaos theory, and may even get pandora when im finished... but if there in any way like the shambles that was double agent, i wouldnt even bother playing after buying them...

    cheers for the insight though

I never noticed slowdown. Check the space on your hard drive (always keep it under 50%). It should run better.

That aside, Chaos Theory was my favorite SC game. It connected well with 1 and 2 and brought the original trilogy to nice closure. It all connected symbolically with politically shady moments going on with the United States in terms of foreign diplomacy, but it was well done.

well iv played roughly half way through the game now, and im impressed with performance at 720p, plays silky smooth..
at 1080p is a different story, framerate is choppy,

glad i purchased though, great game and plays perfect at 720p

Chaos Theory is a wonderful game and yes, legacy games do get a little laggy on the 360. But, you can get the game for probably 5 bucks and for that price, what's a little lag? Also, I noticed that DA is getting a little time on this thread. The 360 version of DA is the pits, however, the XBox version is a blast! It has a real CT feel to it and the story is far superior. I still play both of them regularly. If you can find both games for cheap, I highly recommend them. Just stay away from DA for the 360!
