Thread: Which static A/C in Dogfight ? | Forums

  1. #1
    1) If i want to place static planes to reduce spawnlag, do i have to use the Objects-stationary menu ? (in fact, are you sure it pre-loads the same A/C as the ones of the players ?)

2)Have you any tips about the most currently-used planes actually(f.i., which BF109, which Yak or LA...), to place these planes as static ?

    Thks :-)

Use aircraft from the Stationary Aircraft menu. The 3D models are identical to aircraft of the same name in the Aircraft menu, only the skin texture, flight & damage model may be different.

Don't try and place stationary planes to cover all the possible choices people might make. Use the Aircraft list available in the object viewer when you place Home Base objects to limit the choice of aircraft and place static models only for those which you've allowed players to choose.

You shouldn't have more than about 5 or 6 types available for each side or there's little point in placing static models at all. The idea is to force player's PC's to load the model data into memory when the player first joins the server instead of when other players respawn. If you have too many aircraft types available in the mission, not all of them will fit in memory at once and the player will experience pauses as his PC hits the swap file.
