Thread: Dam level | Forums

I am having a lot of trouble with the beginning of the Dam level. This is the level where you get pushed out of a copter and have to jump off a waterfall.

I have tried several times with no success to reach the downed copter. Any suggestions? Go slow? Run for it? Where should I go? Which direction?

    Thank you for any help!

This level has had extensive discussion. You'll find all the answers in the thread below. On page 4, half way down, I did a walk through of an alternate method. Look, and you'll find many tactics.

    Spoiler

To get you started, don't pick up the weapon, you don't need it. Run, stay left, jump the falls, stay left (Trigens can't swim) Keep going forward, you'll hit a cut scene.

If you move from bush to bush, the trigens don't see you.

I hid in the grass after getting the M-16 (old marine), prone the trigen can't hurt you. Jump off the falls, swim to the opposite shore, run just to the right of the river, but in the bushes, use the shift key to run. Get to the chopper and use the machine guns alternately to kill all the trigens. There is supplies in the chopper I think.

What got me through it was, after running like mad for the waterfall and jumping to the bottom, heading off in a 1 to 2 0'clock direction (gauging that as when the waterfall was to my back) and to keep going in that direction but slow and steady creeping from bush to bush as the trigens moved around. And then when I got to the chopper using everything there to take all the trigens down.

Actually, shooting the trigen above may actually be harmful to your efforts as the sound may alert the trigens below. In recent games where I simply leave the weapon above (to run faster), I find the jump off the cliff does not alert any trigen or fatboy. This allows one to move into the heavy brush to the 1 o'clock of the pond undetected. Once there, moving from bush to bush allows one to get all the way to the chopper undetected.

What I always do is stay underwater as much as possible. While you are underwater they won't react even if you are in direct line of sight.

My favorite way is to run left, stay left, get to the chopper and shoot the 2 jumping trigens only. Run straight across the river, around 11 o'clock. Fat boys are slow, and will be diverted by the firing mercs from the wall. I then climb up the hill, run around and jump down into the top of the wall and run right past the 2 at the top, down the stairs and into the small warehouse. After loading up, its a straight drive to the base of the stairs and the exit.
