I'm unsure of how that works in Kingdoms, like quite a few other players I've had a couple of free subscription periods for it, as compensation for server downtime, but they were redeemed by using a code in a mail sent to my game account in Kingdoms, which I entered on the subscription page, which then credited my account with the free subscription time.
Did your digital purchase include a code to enter in Kingdoms once you create a free to play account in the game?
Sorry I can't be of more help, but I don't have any info on the exact way it works for digital purchasers of the Collectors Edition.

You can use it whenever you want, you need to be loged in the game and then paste the code here:

If you're not on the main region (world) maybe you have to change the /EN/ for /US/ or /FR/ or /DE/ or /RU/ or whatever other specific region.
