Dont quote me but
"ZZZzzz" means the crew are on rest/sleeping
When they turn red I think they are injured, but cant be sure as I dont think I have ever had a fully dead crew man, not sure how I would tell between injured and fully dead at this moment in time.

ok..know how to turn the red bar to green manually next to crew station?i have promotions and it wont let me give then cause the experience..thanx in advance
The redder the deader. Remove the crewman and replace with new ones.
If you put you men on Battle stations or,and dont take them off, they will pass out(zzzz) and turn read due to exhaustion.
Thanx you all for your comments.Comparing SH3 SH4,I think a great fault in 4 is rising periscope,which in 4 is standar.Now you must fix the depth of sub according to the waves so you dont get spoted.As for the torps targeting manually you can put big holes to ships but aiming automatically,without calc the height,angle and distance,the torp has 60% changes for mulfunction.Targeting only on AOB and TDC.
In SH4 you can control the height of your periscopes.
Page Up/Page Down for Attack Scope
Insert/Delete for Obs Scope
Or maybe the other way around (can't remember).
