well, im a newbie at this, and ive never downloaded stuff off of the internet onto my xbox

i would like to know how do i do that?
do i just need an ethernet cable? some program?

Are you signed up to Xbox Live? If so, just make sure you're connected, select multiplayer, Live, and off you go. If you enter a game room that's running a custom map, you'll automatically download it before you start playing.

If you're not signed up to Live, you'll need to buy a registration, then hook up your Xbox to either a cable modem or a router sharing your connection with your PC (usually with an Ethernet cable).
