Thread: laki'ahn, night and day? | Forums

I am having all sorts of problems whith this windmill. At the moment, the pedestal is underwater, and the gate is still locked, but that's ok, I will figure it out eventually. What I don't understand is, why is it daytime one minute, and nightime the next? Plus, the tide seems to have come in and I have water in front of the entrance to the canal, where before it was all sand.

It's daytime - in fact, the sun seems to be in the same position in the sky all the time. The darkness you experience is caused by an eclipse: periodically, the moon covers the sun.

Have you discovered yet how to make the windmill turn?

Hi Vogelaar, thank you for your prompt reply. Yes I think I know how to operate the windmill. I can see differences when I move the controls. I thought I had it with the last move, only to find the gate still closed and the pedestal is now underwater. I think I can sort this out. I was just wondering about the 'night/day' thing, didn't even think about an eclipse, so thanks for setting me straight about that. Also, is it normal to get blown off course if you try to move when the wind is blowing? I just assumed this was the case.

I don't think the wind has a direct impact on the player (you), but displaying the sand storm is a heavy burden on the processor and graphics card, so depending on your computer moving around during the storm may be jerky.

Vogelaar is correct about the lunar eclipse.

Once in a while look at the sun and when it start to get darker, you should see the eclipse.
The moon is on the right and will make its way toward the sun in the +-center.(you can take full size picture if you feel like it (save))

Bonjour mon ami, Nanouk, thank you for those pic's, I have tried looking up into the sky, but I don't seem to be able to look directly up, I have scanned the sky (what I can see of it)but have not yet seen the sun or the eclipse. I did however see what I thought was a sailing boat moving across the sea? I have now done the windmill thing, once I put my reading glasses on, I found I could see through the sandstorm and manoever the levers, watching what they did to the gate and the pedestal. Done the weight thing, now for the tunnels!

Hi Vogelaar, thank you for taking the time to explain things to me. It could well be my graphics card, although I thought they put the latest one in when I bought this PC. When I moved the windmill and tried to get across to the canal in the windstorm, I always ended up being slewn sideways into the brush fencing. Maybe the wind is stronger here in Austalia!
