I have things so messed up that I think its time to start all over again.

what is the proper unstill procedure for sh3?
do I just use the uninstall feature & then reboot & reinstall the game or do I need to delete any files specifically?

I have never even gotten to any career stuff yet...only some single missions.

I have the us dvd version so after the reinstall do I just patch v1.4b or do I have to put prior patches in first?

this time no mods.. if they don't have a little note saying exactly where to put the files then I ain't gonna mess with it...that puts about 95% of the mods out of my reach, but i'll learn to live with it.

I always use the "Add & Remove programs" tool in the control panel to uninstall anything.

Yes, just the 1.4b patch is needed from a fresh install.

As for mods, try SH3 Commander mod a go, it adds alot of content to your ships crew details, and can change quite a few things in game, all of which have multi choices on what you want.
Any mod that works with JoneSoft mod installer will not cause problems, as it tells you if a mod that you want to activate will have dammaging effects with another mod already running, and you can disable any mod you install with it, with a click of a button.

it's also going to create a folder in programs called ubisoft ...saved games and files .it will still be there after a uninstall ...
