Thread: Red Steel 2 Multiplayer Mode Ideas | Forums

1. #1
So I'm thinking about how they could make some neat multiplayer modes for Red Steel 2. Here are some of my ideas

Duel: A 1v1 duel using swords only. I'd think they would have to implement a system so that you can't spam amazing attacks such as the Lift ability and all the other abilities they will have. Mabye using an energy system where blocking/scoring basic attacks builds up a meter for your special attacks.

Team Deathmatch: The basic team vs team mode, if they had multiplayer I would hope it would not be anything above 12-16 players. Red Steel should be less chaotic and consist of more skill using timed attacks and fighting smaller but strategic battles.

I personally would enjoy a 4v4 team deathmatch because I could just imagine if it had a lot more people it would be a giant mass of people swinging their swords hoping for a random kill.

Also needs a 2v2 mode. Playing with a friend in a 2v2 would be awesome, the sword fights would be epic and yet again keeps the game strategic.

Mainly I just don't want a swing away fest, or giant cluster F***s.

Ah I see, the whole multiplayer via DLC would be awesome. Atleast not having a multiplayer mode will allow them to perfect the singleplayer. Red Steel has so much potential for multiplayer, the first games multiplayer was a blast even with it's flaws (Wii just came out can't blame them for not perfecting the Wii shooter yet).

Ubisoft on releasing a multiplayer mode through DLC: "That would be cool. The world has changed, and we can do that sort of thing. I certainly think that would be cool. I'd buy it. But we need to be careful bringing out something that people think should be in the main game."

Red Steel 2 not having multiplayer...
Can you imagine what the reviews will say?
I bet you anything that 100% of the reviews will say "where's the multiplayer?"
This game could bring the Wii to the hardcore gamer genre - becuase at the moment, the most hardcore game is Call Of Duty 5 - and that sucks.
I'd buy the game anyway, but not having multiplayer would a. be a gigantuous let-down and b. severly lower my opinion of Ubisoft.

no multiplayer is just stupid. they could at least just have the red steel 1 multiplayer in Red Steel 2. What am i supposed to do when i beat the game. the career mode better be long as freakin potatoes or i'm just gonna rent this game.

As appealing as multiplayer sounds, I think alot don't realise that there are many underlying gaming principles and limitations that must be considered and implemented to provide a truly enjoyable experience. As you can see from gameplay, the character that you play was designed specifically to combat the enemy AI that the developers designed; not human players. I mean considering the freedom that you have concerning swordplay, I can only imagine a frantic wagglefest to see who can cut the other one up the fastest atm. That said, there is really no excuse for FPS multiplayer.
