Thread: Realism I would like to see or petition to see... | Forums

Well, since it seems that in SH5 players will be allowed to roam around the whole sub, then how about having some realistic valves and controls to use? For those of us who want to play in an arcade mode, then this would all be simplified and automatically controlled but for those of us who want full realism, then I would suggest the ability to control the dive planes and rudder manually (like on a real sub) and the ability to control the MBT vents and trimming system. Also having the valves to flood and blow the negative and the security tanks would be nice, especially when you are taking on flooding. Of course, the learning curve might increase but there is already plenty of documentation about the FleetSubs and the U-Boats. Also, something that has not been included in any Silent Hunters, is an accurate dive sequence. In SH, when you order a dive, the sub always seems to do a running dive by keeping the diesels running until submerged and then switching to batteries. In reality, they would switch to batteries long before the dive in order to prevent the induction from being flooded. Oh and a viewable and possibly clickable Christmas Tree!!! That would be nice, one where the player can manually close and open ventilation, induction, etc.

I would venture a guess that the feature list has been finalized and closed for awhile now.

Concentration is now aimed at partial completion and testing for bugs that can't be found by their current crop of beta testers.

But, I am in total agreement regarding a more hands on approach toward a true Sub Simulation.

There were no Order Bars/buttons in the real things. From the small amount of info released thus far, the buttons are being replaced with crewmen.

Aw, shames it's already been finalised. Maybe for SH6!! lol or possibly a mod or add-on pack. To me, driving a sub without controlling the dive planes and ballasts is like flying an airplane without control over the elevators. You would just push T for take-off and L for land and then select the altitude you want on a dial. That would not make for a good flightsim.

For me ... I like SH game the way it is now. It's the simulation of being a Captain of Submarine and the simulation to command the crew, position the sub strategically to sink the ships, deal with the emergency situation, know the time when the sub needs to be real silent and that sort of things.

It's similar like asking a Formula 1 Grand Prix game in which the idea of the game is for the player to be the driver but we ask for the pit crew experience to change wheels, refueling etc. Not sure whether it is a high demand.

Not to mix up with the simulation of piloting the sub. I can't even see the full realism for being a Captain that drives everything in the sub ... well .. I might be wrong ... but it's basically what the Captain for .. direct orders and judge the situations. It's totally different if we have flight combat simulation or any simulations that require a person to pilot a plane or drives a car and also gives the kick on our blood flow.

Being in a sub controlling the rudder or planes manually will need Captain order as well and we don't really do anything until the Captain say something. Also, the whole crew in the sub work as a team and that is the full realism already.

Well .. again it's just my perspective.
