Thread: Tip to avoid long reload of riff repeater and technique challenges | Forums

Someone mentioned this in a comment to an Amazon review. It's so simple that I didn't even think about it but it's essential considering how long it takes to restart a technique or riff. Simply pause and click restart before all your "lives" are lost or before the end of the technique challenge.

Nice idea for a work around, but it exposes a problem with the interface.

I don't understand why Rocksmith limits you to a set number of "Lives". It's like an arcade element slipped out of the Guitarcade and infiltrated the learning. I'm trying to build muscle memory and it's like "Times up!" and I'm like, "Leave me alone!"

Yea, I agree with this. It doesn't make any sense at all. I want to loop through that solo until I have it mastered. I play guitar, I am used to running the same thing over and over until I have it. I really don't need a break after 5 tries. Especially not with the loading/re-tuning required. Unless the re-tuning is the issue? They want to make sure you are in tune every time you play, so they figure every 5 times is a good time to stop? If that is the case they should have it so it gives you the option to quickly re tune and continue without the reloading.

    Great idea.

I haven't checked this out yet, but in riff repeater is there a way to slow the track down, say like 75%?

For me when I am learning a song outside the game I always start with the metronome really slow and build me speed up. I was messing around with the riff repeater last night, and it seems like it starts you off a little too fast, usually at least 95%.

Is there anyway to manually lower the percentage?

    Thanks

I agree - need to lose the "Lives" aspect, add a manual override for the speed.

Thanks for the workaround idea, but in the first patch for this game they NEED to get rid of the 'lives' thing.

A manual speed adjustment would be good too. Is there anywhere official that we can submit change suggestions?

    I totally agree.
I just want to practice over and over again.

Up to 1 hour continues playing, until I get it a few times right.

I think it would be ideal if it would play repeatedly no matter what, with the option to press start to quit. Then, when you "mastered" it, it would ask if you would like to continue or quit. Upon selecting continue, it would play repeatedly until you hit start and chose to quit.

That idea seems so obvious I wonder why it wasn't at least included as an option.

At the very least the lives should reset to 5 once you level up.

It is starting to detract from this as a learning tool, especially trying to level up the solos. I just want to run through the same solos. Just as I start to get the flow of it, I have to stop and pick up the controller and wait for a minute or two then try to start over (It takes two or three tries to get back into the rhythm, by then your down to two or three lives).
