  1. #1
I am trying to install and play just Pacific Fighters, nothing else. Instalation went smooth, tryed to run it and got the rts.dll popup. I went through the site got the info I needed and downloaded the file and installed. Now I get insert disc 2...its in there allready! I have tried both discs in different seqences etc. When I click OK, I get application failed to start properly (0xc0000142). Click OK to termanate the application. All I want is to play the game... Help!

Are you using a CD-RW drive to run it from? This has caused this problem from time to time in the past. If not, maybe another m8 might have an idea.

I have tried running it from the CD drive and the dvd rom drive. The only cd drive on my computer besides the DVD is a CDRW drive. ??

No worries m8. There is a fix for this issue. I've seen it too many times in here for there not to be. Someone will be along with a link to the Ubi Solution Center that will address this problem. Either that, or another m8 will post a fix or at least try to help you.

Sorry that I don't have a link to the Ubi Solution Center. As often as I am in here trying to be helpful, I should have that particular link. Hang tight. Some of these m8's are probably in bed now, actually where I should be. HEHE

something to note is that when I install it that the first disc installs from the CDRW without a problem. When I get to the second disc it wont install from that drive. I have to install it from the DVD drive, its like the second disc wont even show up as being there if I put it in the CDRW drive. I have reinstalled this game three times, same thing...

Thanks for the replys...I have done all of that and I still get the same errors. I click the icon to start the game, I get- cannot locate the CD-ROM, Please insert CD-ROM 2, I allready have it in there! I click OK, I get application failed to start properly (0xc0000142). Click OK to terminate the application. I have even tried different versions of the rts.dll file fix to no avail. I have installed and am trying to run it from my DVD drive.

Have you installed any patches when you get the memory error? If so, which patches?

Is there any dirt, finger prints, scratches or other damage on the second disk?

The problem you're describing began to appear last November and Ubisoft has provided the correction for the "cannot locate the CD-ROM" error when launching. Here is that link: Ubisoft Solution Center It has been 100%. The only problems I have seen have been in communications to get the file installed correctly and the sim patched in the proper order.

If you can get a clean install, v3.0 with no patching, using the above file will get you flying. After that, there is only the patching left. You should also post your dxdiag. Click here for DxDiag_Instructions
