Thread: Far Cry 2 Being dumbed down? | Forums

  1. #1
Hello I am new to the forum and since crysis is already out and amazing Far Cry 2 is my next most anticpated game.
I would like to know if the pc version of Far Cry 2 will be dumbed down in the graphics department for instances not having dx 10. I would also like to know will the graphics look different from a max graphics on the pc to the console counterpart. Thanks

I can tell you that the game will have DX 10 too, but as far as I know, UBI did not said what from DX10 will actually have.

It doesn't look reduced from Crysis to me from the screens. I actually wouldn't mind having more conservative graphics options, since it seems likely I'll end up playing this on my laptop (in addition to my regular PC). It'd be great if it keeps pushing the boundaries, naturally.

It has been confirmed that FC2 will be both DX9 and DX10 compatible, but they didnt went into much detail which specific features (if any ) of DX10 will be used.

You can put your money on it that the PC version will allow better graphics, depending on how you scale it. Again no details yet. Hopefully we'll get more details soon.

    Then dont.
I believe he is saying that he doesnt want the PC version limited to the capabilities of a console.

That doesnt mean that the console versions cant be optomised for their own feature sets, but it does typically mean that they need to implement things differently.

e.g. Most PCs users will want to see full DX10 bells and whistles and an intuitive keyboard mouse interface, but with an X360 you may focus on the benefits of the unified shader architecture and the gamepad...

I took the comment "more superior" as meaning that one game should be dumbed down. Sorry if that wasn't the case. I do play on a pc as well, so I can respect not wanting your platform limited. I would like to see all versions optomised. Even if it is a table top rpg.
