well i managed to loose a $8 swiss army clasic pen knife somewhere in the toyota yaris front seat area. i have looked over, under, between and elsewhere and cant find this little pocket knife. The jack is stored under the drivers seat, took it out, all the floor mats and large towels used as seat covers etc out. Only other possibility is that it slipped into the slot cut in the console for the emergency brake handle. Dont really want to tear those plastic clips out to look since it will only bend/ buckle and never fit back properly.

This type of thing will begin to gnaw more and more until i snap. So simple, so cheap and meaningless it will become an obsession to find this thing, easy to replace at any retail store in town too. just gotta find this little beastie....
I am incapable of debate and will refrain from doing so

Sorry was stolen by the cute blond Swedish backpacker/hitchhiker you gave a lift to last week.

Either that or it was actually an alien agent in disguise and he/she/it has beamed back to the mother ship.

If you think it's down in the slot, you might want to get a long telescoping magnet. The one I have looks exactly like a car antenna, the same length as one (26 in. extended), and has an itty bitty earth magnet (.300 in. dia.) on the tip. I couldn't begin to tell you how much time and effort this simple gadget has saved me from having to dig through metal chips for lost parts, underneath hard to reach areas, and most of all, having to stick my arm into a yukky oil or coolant sump where I dropped something into it.

If you got something like this, and if you can't get the magnet inside without detaching the clips, maybe all you got to do is pop just one of the clips and fish around inside with the magnet? Even if the surrounding area is magnetic, you still can tell the difference if the knife is in there.

tried the magnet down the slot trick and also under the jack block and the heater vent that is under the seat. it has a fiendishly sized hole in the carpet that may be the culprit, tried a test drop of another sak and it went under the jack and by the vent every time. felt around with fingertips to see if it was within a couple of inches of the hole for the vent but no such luck. Time to admit defeat / hold a press conference and seek compensatory damages from the stress of it all..
