Thread: Why NO Quicksave? Whyyyyy??? | Forums

    Whoever came up with the idea of not having quick save in a game should get fired. These games supposed to be fun not full of frustration.
    The first time I encountered this was in Far Cry. Although I finished it, I had to play each mission 2-3 times or more. Since than I swore not to buy a game with no quick save but here it is again. I read many forums about this game before I bought it and didn't see any mention of no quick save option.
    I call all game developers, Give us the right to choose if we want to use quick save but don't take it away from us.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

    Not having save games is a major source of frustration with GRAW - especially since the enemy AI is so lethal - even on the 'Easy' setting.

    Immersed my arse!

    When you're so immersed that you get killed out of nowhere - what do you want to do?

    As with 99% of all current games - load your last saved game! Thats what you want to do!

    see, Grin complained that they'd get a lot of complaints on how diffacult the game was if they had made it more realistic (I.E. like OGR in terms of damage and death, but with this 1 character only to play as thing)
    but i wonder if they ever considered the option of a quicksave like OGR had to aid in circumventing the frustration of constantly redoing half a bloody level?

    This is NOT real life. It is a game. A game i would like to enjoy not get mad every two minutes. This game is not even close to being real. After a while it turns from a tactical game to a "remember-where-the-enemy-is" game, as after you die the enemy keep reappearing from the same spots anyway.
    If you or anyone else do not want to use quicksave than don't, but let me make the choice.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

    lol, i agree to that.. no random spawns does = repetitive gameplay that gets more frustrating than entertaining don't it?
    even with just 2 differant possible spawn locations for enemies it would seem a little better and add to the replay.

    i'm still enjoying my time replaying OGR with the foggless mods
    though i can only get the expansion ones to work and not the OGR version itself... hmm
    bah, still, its a freaken blast and a half!
    and being able to command a team that moves where i tell them to and engage when i tell them to def makes it more entertaining than the trudge through GRAW, while hand walking its AI.
    scout, position my sniper, move in, position Bravo team, and assault the enemy position!

    ranlevy, pay no attention to the Fan Boys, they get paid to say the game has no faults or is as real as it gets because they don't get out from their rooms so they don't realize that reality is out there and not inside a game. We're not going to name names because they get rattled fairly quick and they call Mommy but you'll soon find out who they are and learn to avoid them just like I do (it does pains them that I pay no attention to them )

    Yes, I do agree with you that it get bothersome to die and have to restart from afar as the enemy AI respawns from the same place so is just a matter of knowing where they are and after you have been killed and annoyed to death, then , the game is no longer appealing. The Option for Quicksave should be within the rights of the buyer and not the programmer but that's water under the bridge as we have been fighting this since June.

    The game is good once you play it once and you do the missions again, as this time, you knwo where the enemy is and you can take your time choosing and picking your spots.

    i just figured out why theres not ROE settings!!
    since its all preset as to where enemies will be, theres no purpose to scout ahead, and doing so would ruin the fun of getting shot in the back of the head by the sniper you missed!

    but my point stands
    making a "Next Gen" game implies more than just pretty GFX, it also implies new and improved gameplay, or at least old gameplay with new twists, not less (as GRAW carries less than OGR as things go... whoa thats an understatement...)
