Wouldn't the Nintendo DS be in the "old and busted" category by the time a port would be completed?

I'd like HoMM to exist in a version that can be played on some kind of handheld device, but we're at the stage where any PDA could run the game and cell-phones that could handle it are not far off - so I'd rather see HoMM ported into some form which could be used on PDA's and cell-phones rather than just be for a juiced up gameboy.

Yes, my reasoning is very selfish. I'll never buy a electronic gizmo to carry around if all it does is play games, I have a cell-phone now and will probably have one till the day I die, so having HoMM on the phone would be much more convenient (not to mention that cell-phone and PDA owners make up for a much larger market than nintendo owners).

Umm...the DS has only been out since November. That's like saying the PSP is going to stop working before GT4 is going to released for it.

I for one think that any of the HOMM would do quite well on the DS though I don't think you'll see a random map generator for it.

You probably won't see an official version of HOMM on PDAs or cell phones for sometime simply because they aren't designed to sit down and play several hour long games. The DS and the PSP are designed for that purpose.

I say if Ubi figures they can make a decent profit from porting one of the HOMM games to the DS then to go for it. The only thing that is probably stopping them is the same reason that the HOMM3 Dreamcast was never completed (which if I remember correctly was that it couldn't be made 'fast' enough for console gamers).

There's already a fan-created PDA HOMM game in the works:

    Pocket Heroes

That being said, porting Heroes 2/3 on the DS would be AWESOME!! It would definately give me a reason to buy the DS...

Also, why not put both games in one package, like Final Fantasy 1&2??

    Great idea BJ_Nitsuj!

Anyone here play ADVANCED WARS for the GBA? It had a map editor. I see no reason why the vastly superior DS carts could not handle a map ed for heroes, or a random map generator.

And, while heroes on a phone is cool n all, heroes on the DS would make UBI more money, not to mention it would suck IMO to play heroes on a phone vs the DS.

HELL yeah I want heroes for my DS!

If it was released I might as well sell all my other DS games...cause that would be the only one Iâ´d wanna play!

As you said, it should be formidable on the DS. The cartridges can hold around 128MB if Iâ´m not mistaken, and graphics-wise it shouldnâ´t be a problem either...or?

MAN, please UBI, make a port of Heroes 3 for the DS!

No need for that.. especialy when my team finishes creating GBA game that is like a mix between heroes and Advance wars :P... it might take a while for us to finish it, but will prolly be out before heroes "if they ever"

I want a good Heroes game (the version doesn't matter) for the GBA not for the DS!
Anyway if there would be a Heroes game for the DS that's not as poor as the Heroes games for the GBC were - for me it would be a reason to buy a DS!

Age of Empires 2 (for the DS) looks ALOT like a Heros of Might & Magic style game. It has been confirmed that it will be turn-based.

    take a look:
