Stay safe if it hits you...if that is same as a category 3 Atlantic hurricane then it's not as horrible as a 4 or 5 but can definitely do some property damage, each storm is unique.
Here in California we also have summer droughts and fires that alternate with winter rains that cause deadly flooding. But no typhoons/hurricanes, we just get earthquakes instead now and then.![]()

Crikey.
Can't catch a break eh?
Seems like the weather has been particularly harsh these last several weeks for everyone. Although it doesn't compare to the destruction that massive flooding or a category 3 typhoon can cause...we've had -20c weather (below average for this area) and we've got a storm coming in that is being called "the paralyzer" by the overly excited media. Some areas have had 200cm of snow in about a month... and we're about to get another 50cm with 70-90kph winds. Crazy.
I hope the storm stays out at sea and you come through it unscathed. Here's hoping! *cross your fingers*
Man that sucks. I feel bad for folks near the water.Originally posted by kneebonejockey:

Here in central Texas we have crappy weather too.
We can all share accompaniment in misery.
I hope my house isn't sucked up by a freezing tornado this week:
01/31/11
Tonight...Showers and thunderstorms...then showers... Thunderstorms and freezing rain in the pre-dawn hours. Windy. Precipitation may be heavy at times in the pre-dawn hours. Lows around 30. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast 20 to 30 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation 90 percent.
Tuesday Night...Mostly cloudy. Breezy...colder. Lows around 13. North winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to around 45 mph. Wind chill readings as low as 2 below to 7 below zero...
But our weather is no comparison to that monster approaching Australia. Good luck.

Hope the Aussies on here stay safe though.

Not sure how they compare but they are predicting minimal of category 3 cyclone with a potential category 5 depending how it develops.
Category 5 tropical cyclones are 300 kmh (180 mph) winds.

If that don't get you then maybe Budweiser can send a relief ship full of cans that say Beer on them.
She's a high cat.4 at the moment.
I'm not in the threatened area but my son is as well as two of our squad members.
