Im new to Farcry 2 and I read different stuff about unlocking weapons, shall I do Main missions or missions from the Weapon Dealer?

if you want new weapons you can depend on you need to do missions for the weapons dealer to unlock them hope this helps

...and do other missions/exploration to get the diamonds to pay for them...

Here's what i do.

early on, I do the cell tower missions. They are quick and easy, and you get 10 diamonds per kill.

Once you have some diamonds, upgrade your bought weapons with realiability and accuracy.

Then i do a UFLL, or APR mission or 2. They are a bit harder, but pay better.

Then I do all the gun dealer missions to unlock and buy my fave weapons. I'll get the camo suit as soon as i can afford it, too.

Then i do buddy missions, bonus missions, etc. Once i have my preferred weapons, and some apare diamonds, i buy the gun truck and swamp boat repair upgrades.

I also replace my bought weapons with fresh ones off the walls at the nearest gun shop, usually before every new mission.

They speed up the repair sequence a bit, and probably not much else. I buy them when i have my preferred weapons, and nothing much else to spend the cash on. I hope they increase the level of damage a vehicle can take before breaking down, but i'm really not sure about that. Since i like to go right by checkpoints in the swamp boat, i think the upgrade is worthwhile.

Have done 2 or 3 dealer missions and 3-4 cell tower missions and 3-4 main missions and a couple of buddy missions. Now I can't get a gun dealer to show up @ the gun shop...and the message I use to get about what weapons will be unlock the next mission don't appear anymore. Any help?????

Yeah, that's normal. After a few missions, the gun guy disappears until the 2nd half of the game, where you get to do more gun-unlocking missions.
