    First off, my specs are...

    Processor: AMD 3200+
    RAM: 2GB Ram
Video: BFGTech nVIDIA Geforce 6600 GT OC (Drivers Latest)
    Water Cooled system with RAID-0

I should be getting a smooth framerate with Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory BETA

But for some odd reason it lags, definately not smooth whatsoever.. bad fps.. what is the meaning of this? Is it fixable?

I heard there were some issues with Geforce 6 cards below the 6800GT.. including poor performance and the odd graphical glitch in SCPT and the choas theory svm beta. this is probably some kind of driver related issue, ive had problems with forceware drivers in the past on the original Splinter cell, where the driver actually broke certain effects such as headmounted flashlights of the guards in the china level (the guard still saw me, and the meter said i was lit up yet i was standing in darkness, but there was no actual light coming from the guards head). after rolling back it was fine. although it was fixed in the next driver release.. this was only as recent as the 57.xx drivers, nvidia have a knack for accidentally breaking things that worked before.. try rolling back your driver and see if these issues persist.

even though you have a beast of a machine, try binging the resolution down a bit and have the graphics settings a little lower (although you shouldnt have to really..)

Slopy code; a legacy from PT. Search around for default.ini and how to tweak it to give you better frame rates, but the basics are that you will get HALF of whatever your refresh rate is. around 30 for 60 (the default) 45 or so for 85, 50 for 100, and so on.

Both the 6800 ultra and the 6800GT work fine for me. I'm thinking its more of a CPU/memory problem or perhaps card brand. The only vidcard brand I ever buy is PNY they have the closest relationship with Nvidia and are almost identical to Nvidia reference boards so generally have the fewest problems.

For warning BFG and ASUS are currently the top two in malfunctioning chip manufacturers BFG at 47% and Asus at 32%.

hmm, i hope my specs work:

    -Nvidia GeForce 6600GT *AGP*
-3.0ghz intel pentium 4 HT technology
    -1024Gb PC3200 DDR RAM
    -550Watt power supply
    -19" TFT flat screen monitor.

Maybe the AGP version of the 6600GT works better, i certainly hope so :S

Not bad, a solid mid range system you shouldn't have any problems.

Out of curiousity Hark, what are your systems specs? They must be pretty **** good to consider that mid-range...

Well, technically it is mid range, but market standards. Nothing is absolute top of the line. Current gen, but not top of the line. That essentially denotes mid range. As far as I'm concerned, it's freakin' awesome!
