Thread: Strange DX10 stuttering on Vista 64bit | Forums

  1. #1
I have a problem running this game in DX10 mode. Everytime i try and move the game will stutter or freeze for a second, it happens constantly. It only happens when DX10 is enabled, it doesnt matter even if the settings are all set to low it still stutters. It doesnt happen on DX9 even when i set everything to max.

Does anyone know how i can fix this?

I use Vsita 64bit with SP1 and all latest updates.I have the latest version of DirectX installed.

    My Pc specs are:
    8800GTS G92 512mb (using the 180.43 drivers)
    Q6600cpu
    6gb of ram
    asus p5ke-wifi mobo
    600watt psu.

    First my specs

2x HD3870 512mb crossfire (which works in game with around 50 fps)
    Q6600cpu
    4gb of ram
    750watt psu
Vista 64bit prem with sp1 and latest drivers

I am about 28% through the game of which all has been played in DX10 without any stuttering or freezing, good framerates very smooth indeed.

I have no idea why you cant run DX10 when our systems are simular? I just wonder if it is the driver version of your graphics card?

Sorry I cant help mate but DX10 will work with 64bit.

Welcome to the Far Cry 2 Technical Help forums... this issue makes up 70% of threads on this forum.

I press "~" to open the console.
Enter "gfx_MaxFps 9999" then "gfx_MaxFps 30" into the console. This works for some, but since I'm using ATI it might work for golfatport.

Thanks for the reply but that doesn't do anything to help at all. It seems to be whenever the game has to load something it freezes for a bit....i have 6gb of ram so i didnt think memory was an issue.

Are there any other suggestions i could try to fix this issue?

Hey I have the same problem, the fix is in this forum. open console with ~ then type gfx_maxfps 30 this limits the fps to 30 and pretty much eliminates stuttering. Now what I need is to get my Console back. When i hit ~ it dosent do anything anymore, so I cant enter any commands.

Thanks for the reply but if you bother to read my previous posts youll find out that someone already suggested that and that it doesnt work for me.

Have you tried the issue with tablet drivers?

This has been posted in a couple of threads related to this issue, but it may not be the specific issue you're experiencing.

Open start menu and enter "services.msc" into the Run dialogue.

Scroll down the list of services and disable any relating to "tablet".

I have no idea why this works, but before I tried this I was getting massive slowdown in DX10. Now it runs perfectly, no slowdown, no hitches, no problems at all.

I tried disabling the tablet service and it didnt help at all....it seems a rather obscure fix anyway.

I'm guessing ill have to wait for a patch or maybe newer nvidia drivers to fix this issue.
