They kinda sorta do that with PEC mode, in a limited capacity.

One thing I loved about City of Heroes was that one of the classes had guns, smoke, etc.

I wonder what you call an MMORPG? Just adding some selectable stats doesn't make it an MMORPG if that's what you are implying.

as much as i am against stats, having a whole free roaming world is nto Rainbow six. It wouldn't work for any shooter to turn into something like that IMO.

Ok, imagine this! You create a character, join your server, choose your specialty. You level up by spending time down on the range - your stats increase by doing PT, spending time in the killing house etc. You can group up with other specialists and attend a briefing for a mission. You get your loadout (better levelled characters having access to more advanced kit). You then travel to the mission zone and get the option to plan. Then we play the game of R6 we all know and love as normal, but based on your actions in the mission, you are levelled up accordingly. Blew out a door as a demo guy? Ability to plant a charge levelled up (you do it faster or something!). Sniper nailed the crucial shot? Level up my friend, keep the scope level more easily! Stealth guy kept his head down? Rejoice as he now is even quieter!

In a huge rendered world, there are places to go and people to kill. You get your missions, load out at Hereford, and go kick some arse in a MMORPG environment. Get shot? You get time out and are forced to continue as a reserve until your character leaves the infirmary. Players ranked the highest will be the best of the best, the highest level characters completing the most difficult missions with the greatest of professionalism!

One problem with this - it would be ridiculously bad to play. Really. Think about it. It's ridiculous.

well that would be kinda cool to have an interactive world where all players start and then you pick your gear and go to different areas, so other players can do PT or range together and pick assignments where you would gget in a small group to do an assignment that could vary in size depending on the mission, this would help in lower the number of servers empty and get a the spread out number to play together on the same game type. it could workj but i dont se it hapening as it would require a lot of work to do that would cost to do.

I agree with defuser that pec, classes and leveling up might be a bad idea for this series.

However, anything that would give a storyline mileux to r6 by creating a realistic, interactive world with "radiant AI" (i.e., innocent npc) would be a welcome innovation to me. This is probably only worth considering for coop as most online adversarial gamers care little for objectives and mission play.

Just for fun since i rather like MMORPG's...

I would want to explore the aftermath of a largescal war, almost post apocalypse but with more organised private armys and a definite inclination towards wandering outside the boundaries of civilisation and rescuing survivors, fighting off rebels and whatnot.

I think most licenses have MMO potential, its just how you do it that matters.
But hey this is just daydreaming on my part hehe.

Wouldnt call that rainbow though, Tom Clancy something hehe.
