I wanted to post this in a thread that already exists but couldn`t find it.

I started my own collection which, hopefully will grow and reach it`s climax with fully working sets of German, British, Russian and American infantry wepons.

By law I`m required to get the fire arms certificate and because they are ex-military weapons, the only way I can own them in original working state is to establish some sort of Association.

Undoubtfully this will take some time but here is a start:


The RK with oak leaves and swords (I burried my dog with one I had previously acquired) is keeping me happy in a car.

Interesting Messervy. I wish you luck. May I ask - if it's not rude (PM me if you'd rather) how much does an RK cost in this day and age? I presume they are original yes? I also presume they are quite hard to find?

Another question, if they are original, is it possible to trace who they were awarded to? I have a WW1 medal of a great grandfather, his name and details are stamped on to rim, but I guess the only place the RK could have such details is on the reverse?

Sadly not. These are replicas. This was simply to quench my thirst. A starter kit, one may call it.
However if I`ll start collecting the original ones It`ll have to be at an expence of another hobby.

I know off the top of my head that even reproductions cost a pretty penny.

I collect Soviet militaria (and not even that old)--otherwise, I'd post a picture.

You can buy replica of Knight Cross very cheap on many websites, but if you really need good reproduction you have to pay couple hundrets of dollars.For example on this website RitterKreuz they have replica of Knight Cross for 595$ and oak leaves with swords for 295$ if you need documentation you have to add 995 $ exept these they have many usefull things: The Hitler & E.Braun Marriage Certificate, Certification of pure Aryan Blood, Invitation for Hitler's Birthday party with your name printed- very nice website, worth of checking.

But if you want to have genuine Knight Cross it will be cost you around 10.000 $ (only 7300 were ever made so they are expensiv) I checked website of well known ww2 memmorabilia dealer and he has 2 Knight Croses ready to sell. The first one cost 4950 Euro and second one with ribbon and case 8750 Euro in addiction he has the genuine oak leaves to Ritterkreuz, this small piece of metal cost 12500 euro( I can't imagine how much cost oak liveas with swords like in Messervy pictures)These are genuine Knights crosses - looking is for free!!!

This is denazified 1957 version of Knight Cross. It is relatively cheap but what is the use of it if it has no swazi? For me 1957 awards have no fighting spirit, but some guys need it for example for funeral. Here Seep Dietrich and his friends with 1957 awards (Insignia his 1SS Div. you already have)
