This seems to have fixed my problem. Its a GRAW1 fix.

    Copied from http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php?s=5c56d7bc8b...howtopic=34224&st=15

    Thanks to CTO-Titus

    This is a fun problem.
Its not all that hard to fix but hard to figure out.... It took me a few days of messing with settings and differnent things to get it right.

Here is the deal. You all have Nvidia graphics cards. There is a bug in GRAW that makes them very unhappy.

First you need to check in your Nvidia Control panel (Make sure your in Classic View or you wont see it) for an option to called "Frames to render ahead" and default is 3. Change it to zero and its fixed.

If you dont have the option you need to get "Coolbits 2.0" and install it. You then will have the option plus some you prolly have never seen there and also the ability to OC your video card. (Dont do that unless you know what your doing). Make sure you have the latest Nvidia Forceware before you do this. Good luck.

PS thx to the forum mods and owners too
I think you should use the error message as the thread name. That way you should be able to find it via google.

Tried using coolbits 2.0 and crashed my system.

Have updated to 1.01. Updated Nvidia drivers.
GNAW2 still crashes. With the above vertex buffer errors.

    DVD Retail.
    SP Mode.
    Desktop/1024mb Ram/60gbHD/Geforce7300GT/2XAMD/ASUS/

Crashes after 30 secs of gameplay of Act II of Joining Forces. Would crash before aswell. But im over the crashes.

Errors reported before and after patching.

    Thanks ColinCJ

Using DriveCleaner to delete existing drivers both chipset & display, then boot in safe mode to install a fresh set of Nvidia drivers worked wonders. GNAW2 runs nicely!!! not one crash since.

    Big thanks.

    Hallo all, new here.
Not the best English, but i'l try.
Got the same crash problems like meany discribed above in Single Player and starts to be very frequent at the beginning of the thirt mision. In the first and second mission it is far less, perhaps 1 or two crashes. But.., indeed my problem seems to be resolved using the same change (almost) of setting in de classic CP like mensioned by toecutter1962, with the little difference that it works with me changing the value to 1 instead of 0. (value 0 crashes my system with all games). I play this game @ 2560x1600 reso. all settings high.
There is also this i have to say: I do'nt find this acceptable. I hope there comes a good solution for this annoying problem.
    Spec's:
Game version: DVD patched to 1.2.0.2673, bought in Mediamarked in the Netherlands
    Mobo: Asus Striker Extreme
    CPU: E6600
Vid. card: BFG 8800 Ultra OC, driver: DNA Forceware 158.22
    Memory: 2x1 gig G.Skill F2-8000PHU2-2GBHZ
    PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 850Watt
Sound card: Audigy with latest drivers.
    Monitor: Dell 30 inch.
OS: Win Xp Pro SP2 (32bit)

    A few crash logs:

    1) Crash in application version: 30292.2673

Could not load geometry because IDirect3D9::CreateVertexBuffer failed.
This device does not support the queried technique.

And using the tips of this 2 links: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=67799 and http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=224647 mensioned by ColinCJ did not help in my case and beside that, i do this things automaticly wen i change drivers.
And another thing: Wen i play @ 1280x800 reso. then there is no problem at all and this without changing enything on the CP like mensioned above by me and toecutter1962....Strange...

    Hope this info is useful.
