I'm gonna try to break down into several catagories the different fleet boats that are still around.

First, which ones ARE still around?

USS Batfish - Muskogee, OK
USS Becuna - Philadelphia, PA
USS Bowfin - Honolulu, HI
USS Cavalla - Galveston, TX
USS Clamagore - Mt. Pleasant, SC
USS ***** - Manitowic, WI
USS Cod - Cleveland, OH
USS Croaker - Buffalo, NY
USS Drum - Mobile, AL
USS Ling - Hackensack, NJ
USS Lionfish - Fall River, MA
USS Pampanito - San Francisco, CA
USS Razorback - Little Rock, AR
USS Requin - Pittsburgh, PA
USS Silversides - Muskegon, MI
USS Torsk - Baltimore, MD

All but Clamagore, Ling, and Requin served in the Pacific during WW2.

Becuna (EB sail)(GUPPY 1A)
Cavalla (EB sail)(SSK)
Clamagore (Atl sail)(GUPPY 3)
Croaker (EB sail)(SSK)
Razorback (Atl sail)(GUPPY 2A)
Requin (Atl sail)(Fleet Snorkel)
Torsk (PNY sail)(Fleet Snorkel)

all underwent GUPPY, Snorkel, or SSK modification.

Batfish, Cavalla, and Drum are no longer in the water.

Seeing the reference to Manitowoc WI boats (always been my favorites in SHCE) makes me wish the Great Lakes were on the SH4 map so I could do sea trials off Manitowoc. Of course the Panama Canal is missing too... (just thinking out loud, sorry) Haven't seen ***** yet but I'd really like to someday.

Have been there with my son, Art. A gentleman named Jerry Calenberg gave us a personal tour of the *****. Bt the end of the tour, my sons were asking more questions than I was.

I saw the *****, briefly, when I was 17 (back in 1999). My mom was a truck driver at the time, and made a delivery to the warehouse across the river from the *****. When I woke up and looked out the windshield of the truck, I saw her. I told my mom I was gonna be right back, ran across the bridge, and stared in total awe.

Jerry wrote a book called ***** at war. He used the patrol reports and interviewed many of the WWII vets that were on her. A very good read. You can get it from the gift shop and if you call to order it, they will have Jerry autograph it.

i actually saw a glimpse personally at USS Pampanito. Sorry, no pictures. Nice fleet boat. Found it around at fisherman's wharf in San Francisco with some other warships. I didn't have the time to visit it.
