Thread: Running on Vista | Forums

  1. #1
    Hi all, i now this is already mentioned but i cant make any sense of it.

    Basically i need a really simple way of making HOMM5 run on my laptop. The OS is Vista, but i doublechecked the packaging and it does state that Vista is supported, it installed fine, i can watch the startup video, choose the settings from whatever game i want to play but as soon as it loads and im about to start it cuts off and cannot find a solution to the problem. On top of this GAME are refusing to refund me because i opened the cellophane packaging.

    Can anyone help?

    A laptop? Well that might be your problem. Not enough CPU power, RAM and more importantly the Video card performances. Check the side of the box for the minimum configuration.

    PS: You can dump here your DirectX stats for details.

    Since when did Ubi make AoE 2?, that was developed by Ensemble and was published by Microsoft.
    The only connection Ubisoft has with any of the AoE games, is publishing budget re-releases of them.
    -------------------------------------------------
    AoE 2 requirements:
    * Multimedia PC with Pentium 166MHz or higher processor.
    * Microsoft® Windows® 95, Windows 98, Windows NT® 4.0 with Service Pack 5 operating system.
    * 32 MB of RAM.
    * DirectX 6.1 or later.
    * 90 MB of hard disk space; additional 100 MB of hard disk space for swap file.
    * Super VGA monitor supporting 1024x768 resolution.
    * Local bus video card that supports 1024x768, 256-color resolution and 2 MB of VRAM.
    * Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device.
    * 28.8Kbps modem (or higher recommended) for Internet* or head-to-head play.
    * Audio board with speakers or headphones.
    * To access the MSN Gaming Zone you need Internet Explorer 3.02 or later software or Netscape Communicator 4.0 or later.
    ------------------------------------------------
    HoMM V requirements:
    --------------------------------------------------
    Supported OS: Windows 2000/XP (only)
    Processor: Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 1.5 GHz (Pentium 4 2.4 GHz recommended)
    RAM: 512 MB (1 GB recommended)
    Video Card: DirectX 9 compliant w/ 64MB RAM (128 MB recommended)
    Sound Card: DirectX 9 compliant
    DirectX Version: DirectX 9 or higher (included on disc)
    CD-ROM: 12X CD-Rom or better
    Hard Drive Space: 2+ GB
    Multiplay: Broadband internet connection

    *Supported Video Cards at Time of Release
    NVIDIA GeForce" 3/4/FX/6 families (GeForce 4 MX NOT supported)
    ATI Radeon 8500/9000/X families Matrox Parhelia"

    Laptop versions of these cards may work but are NOT supported.

    These chipsets are the only ones that will run this game. Additional chipsets may be supported after release. For an up-to-date list of supported chipsets, video cards, and operating systems, please visit the FAQ for this game on our support website at: http://support.ubi.com.
    --------------------------------------------------

    That's hardly what I'd call the same requirements, also, since you won't post your system specs, I can only guess that perhaps your laptop has an Intel itegrated chipset, if it has, that may well be why you have this problem.

    To whom to you refer? The minimum spec is the most common issue since people that just bought a new machine think they can do everything with it. On the contrary.
