Actually, no I'm not glad they did. I would have liked to have seen more of the original than just the little bit of stuff we saw.

The devs were WAY to quick to chnage things because of complaints based on very little information compared to what we have now.

The old hobo Sam was the freshest idea to sweep across Splinter Cell.

The handling system allowed you to pick anything up and create diversions in ways unimaginable.

Now it is once again back to monotonous running and gunning.Same precanned rubbish animations.Truly horrid and cheap. They need to go back and tweak the ideas from hobo Sam build. That is next gen.Not this Gears of War meets Uncharted crud.

I've got to say that I am very thrilled to have this new gameplay. I think that combined with the traditional stealth in the Splinter Cell series, this game will add that extra bit that I have been waiting for. I mean think about it, who hasn't wanted to go all ninja on a few of the enemies, but lacked the offensive interface needed to do so(referring to close combat.) And don't even get me started on the pathetic accuracy of the assault rifle(SC-20K, which doesn't appear to be silenced at all), or the Five-Seven pistol(in the original Splinter Cell). I think that the new fighting interface will make getting those awesome kills and unbelievable take downs just that much easier. But, hey, that's just my oppinion.

Well, if you think "going ninja" involves flipping out and blowing up half a building then yeah - I never wanted to go all ninja on the bad guys.

And the rifle was accurate enough. I never missed a headshot in sniper mode. The pistol always was for a somewhat less noisy, *close range* takedowns, and was accurate enough if you took your time to steady the aim and let the bad guy's head float into it.

What's the point of a stealth game which doesn't reward you in some way for playing stealthily? Are there alarms? More bad guys swarming defensive positions to the point of it being very difficult to get through? ANY kind of serious repercussion for making too much noise and being so obvious about it?

I'm happy with the new one. It looks really promising. I'm still skeptical because of how much I was let down by DA. But I think I was even more skeptical with the 2007 Conviction.

The 2007 build was Pre-Alpha , So , a game in this level can be changed totally even in terms of technological side and that's what happened . Conviction has changed to a better side specially in terms of technology but the main concept between this build and 2009 build is the same which is " You are now fugitive not a governmental agent " .

I would still hound Ubisoft for the pointless change to the series (which started with DA) if the early build of Conviction was released.

But at least Conviction '07 had potential to be a decent game in its own right. I actually interested in the conversation Sam and the main in the suit were having in the early build.

The current information released suggests that Conviction will be another shallow shooting game with some watered down stealth gameplay thrown in. It looks like it'll make a mediocre game only worth renting.

Critics will probably eat this up and award it numerous game of the year awards like Call of Duty 4 got.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

In terms of the type of stealth, absolutely. SS and I don't get along in any form, but I can have a good time with even a really basic L&S game. In terms of some other features, not so much - Sam could still whistle in 2007.

Of course, I'd prefer it if it was a highly sophisticated and very unapologetic L&S game, but what can ya do?

I like certain details of both builds, but i think the current one looks a bit better. If they were to give us the game they have now with the full interactivity of the previous build then that would be great. Either way, Im excited to play it!

I think we are assuming too much given what we have seen so far. Once Sam is in Washington I'm sure we will see things of the old build in terms of Social Stealth and blending in. Razz and Kleaneasy said the E3 demo didn't even scratch the surface because of time constraints. There's probably a whole more that the player can do but we haven't seen it yet.
