I just installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and the Catalyst 9.11 which their site says is for Windows 7 64 bit. But I am having problems with the text in the menus and when flying in the game. It looks like little squares. This comes and goes. It works fine for about 3-5 minutes, then gets corrupted for a while then comes back.

Could this be a ATI or OpenGL Settings issue? I don't see any 'old' ATI Catalyst Drivers for Windows 7. It looks like only version 9.11 is for Win7.

    Thanks,
    Snacko

It could be a bad driver install or bad game install. I'd try uninstalling the drivers and then reinstall them. If that doesn't help then uninstall/reinstall the game.

It looks like your trying to run with the wrong graphics settings for the game.
Like something is enabled that the card does not suport for this game.

Does it only happen for IL2 or other games also?

What Graphics card do you have?

Actually, I reverted to 9.10 after getting exactly this with the 9.11s. I'm using an Ati 4890 with an AMD Q955BE and Windows 7 64-bit OS. I didn't change any settings in the meantime, so I'm putting this down to a driver issue generated by Ati; not me, my rig or my game settings.
You can find a complete library of graphics drivers at guru3d.com, Wild Bill. The 9.10s work very well and are available in any flavour.

I just installed Blackshark and it looks fine. I have an ATI 4850x2. I will try going to the 9.10 drivers. I did disable the Catalyst AI but that didn't help.

    Thanks!

I sugest you post your Conf.ini file if the older drivers dont help.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

On the AMD ATI Support site if you tell it your OS is Win7 it only shows you the 9.11 cat drivers. There is NO link for previous drivers. So, I had to tell it that I was running Vista x64 as my OS, and then it showed me the 9.10 and other previous catalyst drivers. I removed the 9.11 and installed the 9.10 drivers (which actually did say they were for Vista AND Win7 Beta drivers in the download filename!!), and now all seems to be working fine. More testing needed, but it looks like things are fixed now.

    Thanks again,

Yes, I nearly posted about the issues with this new driver and its effect on 2D text but I got sidetracked elsewhere. There is a 6-page thread relating to the 9.11 release @ guru3d forums, and quite a lot of complaints by users.
Again, for the record, there is a complete catalogue of ALL the ATI drivers & CCCs ever released here at guru3d, so it's not a total disaster if you get caught out by a wrong 'un.
