Thread: Utter Failure already | Forums

    I think what all these hard core fans really want is all the best features from the past R6 games (realism, the need to use tactics, planning, weapon customization, intelligent AI, and challenging gameplay) to be in this new R6 game.

    IMO saying that these old fans just want a bare remake of Raven Shield and don't want R6 to change is a stark generalization of their complaints and the same could apply to old fans calling people who like this game "CoD fanboys". Its perfectly fine for a tac shooter to try new stuff (adding new commands, improving AI, making weapons more realistic along with tactics) just as long as it doesn't completely dumb down the entire game. You can't appeal to everyone.

    There are other ways to appeal to a large audience (having an easy mode for new players and having serveral tutorial levels to teach them the mechanics of the game) other than dumbing it down totally.

    This demo imo made the game look like CoD with the simplest tactics ever and requiring very little thought. If they come out with a video showcasing everything I said in my 1st post then I'll be totally satisfied.

    I belive some of these responses are from the competition. I have waited a long time for another RB6 game. I love them all
    These responses are from long time fans that lament the destruction of their favorite shooter franchise. A game that favored intelligence, teamwork, and customization over "edgy" storylines and cheap gimmicks. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

    This.

    Well said, the basic consensus is that these so-called "hard-core" fans want the same game they played 8 years ago because according to them, it works so well for gaming to stay the same and avoid innovation *cough* Call of Duty *cough*
    I've never seen anything like it...just like you pointed out, COD is ragged on and insulted because it is simply more of the same...I mean if you play the campaign of the very first COD, and then play MW3's campaign - they will largely be the same, with little changes here and there.

    Is that what the R6 community want? a stale, beaten experience that just continues being regurgitated? just like COD then...

    The way UBI approaches game design is to try something new each time, it must get pretty boring making the same game every time. Why don't people who don't like this, just get lost and play the old games that they love so dearly is beyond me. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

    Why don't you point out what in this video that you've seen is new, or innovative in any way, shape or form?

    Regenerating health? Been done a thousand times over.

    3rd person cover mechanics? Again, done and done and done.

    Scripted linear storyline with no way to do anything but EXACTLY what the game wants you to do? Yep, just about every shooter out these days.

    QTE's everywhere? Yep, again in just about every shooter out there today.

    My god, you're right. How dare people ask for the same tired old thing over and over. What you don't see is that YOU are the one defending that very thing, and somehow so freaking blind to it that you're suggesting there's ANYTHING new about what we saw beyond the story.

    What we're asking for is something that once upon a time made Rainbow 6 stand out from the crowd. Something that makes it different from any other generic modern shooter, which spawns 10+ games a year, all with exactly the same crap we saw in that video. Planning, strategy and tactics. A thinking man's game, not another generic twitch shooter that tells you what IT wants you to do every second of play. I want a game that -I- play, not a game that plays me and then tries to pat me on the head with achievements for doing as I'm told.

    Edit: And for the record, despite how important you seem to think you are, we'll stay as long as WE want to, and argue for the betterment of the games as long as WE want to. Thankfully, I don't have to give one single crap what you think I should do.

    U irate?

    The definition of a fool is what you are, you've argued, complained and mouthed off for years now. Nothing has changed, nothing will change. Yet you continue to argue and complain and of course, mouth off. Insanity in a nutshell.

    Clearly UBI is taking R6 a direction you do not like, what you need to do is get off the train...genius.

    btw, there are other games on the market you can be supporting, try looking for indie tactical shooters, if you had a brain half the size of a golf ball, you'd realize your comments and critiques would make a bigger and more profound difference on smaller, indie titles.

    Mad stupid.

    Well said, you spoke my mind. However, beyond the video, looking at what they are saying about what we can expect at least from its multiplayer I am certain that the tactical nature of the older Rainbow Six games would return in some form.

    wow you guys do realize the announcement trailer was not gameplay footage, they still got two years left making the game, chill the f*** out.

    Hear hear, i'm fed up with these socalled 'hardcore' fans. I've played all the Rainbow games and i like them alot! Some were better then others, but still they are very enjoyable. If you want realism, then go to blackfootstudios.com en give them some ideas! Please, we are talking about a game here!! The game isn't out yet but stil there are these fans (who like to be called veterans, i guess) who are trolling these forums with negativity! If you are already know this is going to be a bad game then go play some other game. Or give some mature feedback or ideas! Get a life or live like a monk so nothing will change for the rest of your life!! You are infecting these forums so no one will listen to you anymore!!

    @Continental
    Besides from that it's more silly effects showing games are more and more adapted to be played by idiots who can't think, skulls on top of the bad guys!!! There were so many graphic overlays explaining for the ******ed gamer it was pathetic.
    I'm sorry, I don't see how removing GUI indicating terrorists would automatically up your IQ.

    That's a prototype video...they wanted to show an AR concept.

    @TedSmith

    And you jumped to this conclusion based on a prototype video? Do you understand what a 'target video' is?

    @All

    The footage we have seen is a glimpse of how the game COULD play out and shows us the new mechanics at work here. Please stop making assumptions and focus now on the positives we have seen

    1. A Cover System which actually is more realistic and demands that the player expose himself to peek before firing....No more GOD POV.

    2. Team Commands- You saw two Rainbow elements there and the player was able to command his team to flank/engage etc. It COULD lead to a possibility that you can command more people

    3. More Breaching tactics- The Inverted Rappel was a glimpse at how the game could offer new ways of breaching buildings and infiltrating areas.

    4. A better narrative- Shifting POVs, Tactical choices, wounding shots...all are hinting at a narrative decided by player actions...a welcome thing IMO.
