Probably because you ARE using Vista 32. We are using 64, be it Vista or Win7. Millions of people are now using 64 bit OS, but these gamers still don't recognize that fact so they don't program for it, and thus it causes all these headaches.

WOW! this game is incredible, I love the neon @ night. That post about the amp suits is right though, they are way to weak+need melee.
I have one problem that occurs randomly but maybe like 1 out of 7 times. When I start the game right after the logos, before the Avatar face appears, the game will stop responding and I have to close it with task manager. It is just a minor quibble though, because this game is awesome!!!
Oh and also I don't like how in conquest the ratio between how many XP rewards there are to skill benefits is so high. More skills! Plus it would be better if when you attack you could actually fight a character in the battle. Like keep it the way it is buying and planning the attack, but instead of the number fight the player can choose to enter a game mode fight. That would add huge replay value.
Just tried my hand at some multiplayer and I am extremely underwhelmed.
For starters whoever decided I would prefer to play on a chosen map on my own instead of a map with other people should be fired. Basics basics basics. Like a ping display and a server list, maybe even a quick start option that finds me a game with people in it so I don't have to roll a dice to guess which map is playable.
Balance is also slanted. Playing the RDA is like chewing glass while playing as the Na'vi is idiot proof. Dunno why someone decided they needed to raise the bar by disabling aim assist. Your average RDA player (AKA: Me and the people I played against) can't hit anything while the Na'vi auto hit anything in melee range. I shouldn't need to triangulate between the gun, my view and where the circle is pointing to be able to hit something while the other team just has to randomly start swinging when they get close enough. I have the circle pointed at the target, I am aiming at them, what more does this game want from me and how is this in any way fair?
Titan's Bash I would put down as possible the most overpowered ability in the game and is head and shoulders above Ultrasonic Repulse. Titan's Bash stuns you for 3~ seconds and the Na'vi player gets a free kill because it has a huge area of effect and the enemy just stands there waiting for you to run up and bash it. Being on the receiving and giving end of this ability I'm already of the mind that it needs to have its duration halved. Ultrasonic Repulse has the very unfortunate side effect of throwing the target away so half the stun time is gone before you can find and aim at them again. The huge area of effect also lets multiple players chain the effects and wipe out a group of the other team effortlessly, especially since the Na'vi kill much quicker and don't have to re-aim because there's no throw back.
I'm even more into the opinion that Zeta-Shield and Beast's Aegis need to be removed from the game. It takes 25 assault rifle rounds to kill a Na'vi which is overbearing as it is, however should they pop Beast's Aegis then you can pump a whole clip into them and they still don't die. The shield skills slow the game down way too much and maybe even break it since the whole RDA game plan is to not let the Na'vi close, but if the Na'vi pop the shield there is nothing the RDA can do to stop them.
Just a post to weigh in on the under represented faction that really likes this game and would like to encourage UBISOFT et al for their efforts .
First, I am running Windows 7 64 bit and have not had a single crash after almost completing both campaigns.
I play in stereo 3d with Nvidia and the graphics and immersion are awesome. I can possibly understand why in 2d the graphics may not be as impressive but in stereo 3d the jungle really comes alive. There is no "where is Waldo" in the sea of green because the 3d makes it all separate beautifully.
I am running in directx10 and the frame rate seems quite a bit better than in DX9. All in all quite acceptable even with the frame rate hit that stereo 3d gives.
Regarding the always run and vehicle complaints I am using the xbox 360 controller with my PC and that allows much better control and walking. I prefer the mouse for shooting so i usually switch back and forth depending on whether I am driving, flying or walking. I do wish there was a walk key for the pc because sometimes I just want to take in the lush graphics.
I also want to put in a thank you for all the encyclopedia information which actually makes a reasonably plausible science explanation for much of the environment and story line. A nice touch which adds to the immersion.
I do not play Multiplayer so I cant say anything about balance.
All in all I would recommend this game to anyone especially in stereo 3d. I dont quite understand why it is getting lower reviews except that so far most of them have not taken the stereo 3d into account. That is a game changer in my opinion. When spears fly by your head and you feel you have to duck it makes for an entirely different experience.
I'm begining to think that this game was designed for Nvidia cards. I have an ATI 5870 and nothing but problems & glitches. I'm gonna post a mani topic & see if that's the case.
I only have the Demo so far, I like the game (especially the native 3D engine) but haven't bought the full game yet but i do have somthing to say which i would like Ubisoft to read.
It's about the Retail DVD version of the game :
I accept when the DVD is mandatory to play
I accept when an optional online activation unlocks the game to play on my computer without inserting the DVD
I do not accept when a retail DVD version of a game requires online acivation to run.
You will probably publish some patch next year to remove the protection like EA did with some of it's games : I do not consider this fixing the issue.
I buy DVD copies of my important games in order to be able to still play them or reinstall them if i would ever have an internet break down.
So i won't buy the collector's edition and will get it from Steam instead.
I would rather do without steam too but since i do not really feel i have the choice, it is in my opinion, the less annoying solution.
I just wish Ubisoft would have made a less restrictive DVD version straight away.
Thank you
you fellas at ubisoft might wanna start reading the forums aye. alot been said about multiplayer. for example how on earth are we supposed to play mulitplayer when there is no server stats no ping no online players no anything but a planet sitting infront of us with game types. this game has the potential to be an absolutly awsome multiplayer but without these few minor tweaks that it needs it is probably the worst mulitplayer setup i have ever seen.
so yea probably wouldnt be too hard to fix the little problem how about a little fan community support ubisoft![]()
to the people at ubisoft wow i love your game i bought the special edition the game is immersive and it feels like your a navi the art and gameplay is great the most fun ive had playing a game for a long time to me its just fun ive been playing games for 40 years now but some of the younger critics or just critics of the game game that just gave it a pass mark have lost sight of fun anyhoo till your next game cheers damien sydney australia.
Foley_505: I assure you, we are watching.
But, less ominously, I'd just like to respond for a moment to the "shouldn't be too hard" portion of your statement. I have to defend our devs here in that there isn't a single thing they do that isn't hard. Their days are packed with difficult and challenging tasks that they overcome with grace and skill... for you to say that something is not difficult, when I am not sure you have the authority to say such a thing, well, it offends me a little on behalf of the people that I see all around me working as hard as they can.
I am not trying to come down on you specifically, but I have seen this kind of comment around our forums quite a bit... things like, "oh, this change would be easy" or "why don't they just make this simple fix." In fact, making a game is very difficult and involves the work of a great many people.
Still, as I said before, we are watching this thread in particular, but also the rest of the forum and compile these comments and suggestions on a daily basis (this is not just a part of my job, but several other Ubisoft employees as well). We may not have a solution to the criticisms or issues mentioned in this thread immediately, but your voices are being heard and it is our firmest conviction that you remain satisfied Ubisoft customers.
Cheers, and please do keep your feedback coming!!
