Thread: Settlers 7 keeps crashing | Forums

  1. #1
The game works just fine - for about 20-40 minutes, and then it crashes.

My drivers are all up to date, windows is all up to date, my system is perfectly capable of handling the game - as evidenced by the fact that it all works just fine for a while. Sometimes just before it crashes it gives signs of being out of memory, as if there was a memory leak.

This is frustrating. It is like having a demo of a game I paid full price for.

Vista Home Premium, I think it is service pack 2. I use automatic update and go with whatever that tells me. Right now it is all up to date.

You could try if things get better when you edit your virtual memory size.
To do so you must run the following commands as administrator in a command window:
    C:\>BCDEDIT /Export "C:\BCDBackup"
    C:\>BCDEDIT /Set IncreaseUserVa 2500
    (then reboot)
    To revert this change run:
    C:\>BCDEDIT /Import "C:\BCDBackup"
WARNING: Modifying the virtual memory size is not a recommended fix - it might leave your system instable.

I get this issue and my computer far exceeds the recommended spec.

    Please fix this memory leak!

I see ubisoft don't actively monitor anything in here.

What is the official way to raise issues and complaints like this? Memory leaks are unacceptable - there is a no refund policy on the game from where I bought it from because they are worried that people copy PC games then take them back. As this is a faulty good, that shop is in fact violating my statutory rights which I will take up separately with them with trading standards. As that shop is a large nationwide supermarket a run in with trading standards for something like this will likely result in the destocking of at least this product, and potentially other ubisoft titles.

As you can appreciate, simply addressing my concerns here and now before I raise this with trading standards would be a much more simple, less costly and therefore a preferable alternative for yourselves.

Do it. Memory leak, investigate, fix, test, distribute patch.
