I've been in a similiar situation myself, although the prices were more expensive than yours even. In the end I went to the local school and I'm fine there. Wherever you want to be most really, I found out that I prefered the local school in the end.

that's true...but not when you're hoping to win a scholarship and yes, i believe King Edward's more expensive than that, i think it was â£8000 per term.

    hi malaysheba,

this is the first time that i read about rudolph Steiner in a forum
i'm not quite sure if i can help you, because i never met anyone from one of those schools, so i dont know if his theory actually works..but if there's any way that a philosophy can make school more usefull, then i think the answer is "ya",

on the other hand, there's the fact that school is only a short period of your life, and there may be other more important things to worry about... or not...

    his architecture is unusual too

    good luck

EDIT: his architecture IS unusual i must agree but he doesn't encourage artifial stuff like plastic etc...that's why when we visited it the whole school's made of wood/stone and so far i've only seen plastic as in scissors handle

also, it is quite unusual that i put this issue up but then i thought, well, there's quite alot of minors around and mebbe grown-ups might even consider bout it sooo....

First off, I really don't have much knowledge about this subject, both the GCSE and the education system in general.

But...based on what I have gathered...

Basically it comes to whether or not your school offers "essential" courses for the GCSE. Look around and try to find out which courses will be downgraded from a probability standpoint. Usually popular and unpopular courses don't change with the different people in each year. So you would be able to see which courses were unpopular for lets say the past 2 years, and base your reasoning on that. If all of the courses you want will be downgraded, then perhaps you should move out. But if there are only two, one, or zero, then don't bother to move. Obviously it seems of too much hassle based on your description...especially having other siblings...

I repeat, I don't know much about the situation. But if it only depends on the courses you want to take and if they probably will be downgraded. The level of education is another thing which somewhat hard to judge. It might be good to see the stats. of how other people faired on the GCSE from your current school. If that's acceptable, then perhaps you shouldn't move...

In short, do investigative work to make an informed decision. The GCSE passing rate, the courses, and also your parents income to see if they can afford such...

Hope I helped (seriously what’s up with in your message) .

i was expecting a longer lecture
but it seems you got the basic idea as i've got so i better tell mom to stop worrying bout that
when i first heard of that school i was happy that there's actually a school which is more interested in what the children's interested in rather than passing exams under pressure critisise your teacher's constant bullying etc but yes you're right. i guess i'll have to think of other schools as well

    topic closed i guess
