Why do all the shadows on objects in this game only fully draw when you approach the object?

ie, the shadow details seems to only increase once you get close to the object or building?

is there any way to manually max out the shadow draw distance so shadows do not suddenly appear as you approach them?

Also, is there any way to max out the object draw distance beyond what is available in the in-game menu?

Give the following TweakGuide a read. Although it's for Assassin's Creed, but the variables should be the same for AC2, IMO. Try to open the Assassin2.ini file.

    http://www.tweakguides.com/AC_8.html

Under this file look for the following variables, e.g. ShadowDistance=, ShadowMapSize=, DistanceLOD= etc. There may be other variables here, so try Tweaking them. But I'm not sure, if you can find the Exact Variable, which you are looking to Manually change. Nonetheless, Give it a Try.

Assassin2.ini doesn't have any additional settings. You can only change what's in the in-game graphics menu already.

If anyone finds any way to change LOD distance, please tell us.

AC2 was lead developed for the consoles and shadows are demanding graphically hence why the draw distance for them is so poor (literally less than five foot and, yes, it does look ugly). It's also why the level of detail is so aggressive compared with other developed for PC games.

Unfortunately it is unlikely that you'll be able to tweak them to look better as the PC version is effectively a port with options to run the game at higher resolutions and with better AA plus added support for keyboard and mouse controls.

OK. It looks like the 'Assassin2.ini' file, does not contain these variables. That's bad, and it seems the DEVs have changed things a lot here in AC2. I thought it might be somewhat similar to Assassin's Creed.

Year after year, PC games are getting hard to Tweak/Mod. Thanks to the Consolisation, of the PC ! *Sigh*

It took all those extra months from console AC2 release to PC AC2 release JUST to add keyboard/mouse support and AA. Wow, just wow. AC1 on the consoles looks better than this piece!

GIVE US THE OPTION TO TWEAK SUCH SIMPLE SETTINGS FOR GODS SAKE! This game looks like **** on the pc and runs like ****.

Never, EVER, will you get another purchase from me Ubi****. You used to have the best games, and a great company. Now you are thieving, DRM advocating bastards. Your DRM sucks btw.

Enjoy bankruptcy for your failure to implement and support the PC gaming side of your games, and make us wait so long for a piece of **** port.
