hi new in this forum, i Own a Chessmaster X and i enjoy playing it. I also got a Shredder 9 software. I squared em off to find whose the better engine and it seems to me that Shredder is good at long games and there about equal at rapid. Anybody here knows Chessmaster Fide rating?? Tnx in advance!

Fide ratings are for humang beings. computer programs have their own rating lists, one of which can be found here:

chess master is down at 39, with the rating of 2656. but I need to remind you again that having a 2656 rating in that list doesn't mean it corresponds to 2656 in Fide ratings, it's probably much higher, since even CM 9 beat GM Larry Christiansen very comfortably.

and by the way, shredder 9 is a lot stronger than cm 10 at all time controls.
