I'd like to download some more maps for my game, but I hate the fact that I have to register my email 'all over the place' to get the free maps... Does anyone have any links to places where you can download maps without registering?![]()

Hi Trond6
You will find that other sites as well as my own require an active email address for several reasons.
It gives the website owner detailed information on who is downloading what - inevitably making it easier to see what people like.
Also (and probably most important), it can cost a lot of money to set up and run these sites so limits on who can download sometimes have to be put in place.
All is not lost tho - you can use free webmail services such as hotmail ect to register so you dont have to give out your main address.
Registering to the sites is free (well I havent seen any yet you have to pay for) and personally dont see it as a big deal to register and show your appreciation to the site designers and map makers![]()
Yeah, I know... most you say is true, its just me being a bit paranoid about my emailadress... A few years back I did run one of the major sims-sites online, and got me some good friends and enemies :P Being bombed with 100.000+ emails an hour from someone, did make me a bit paranoid tbh
Anyways, you seems like a nice guy/girl, so I'll try your site first the![]()

i just bit the bullet submitted two of my favorite babies to your site settlersmaps.com. Take good care of them and i may send more
Edit: oops i forgot to add a mission on one of them. should i re-submit it now or wait a bit?
@ Trond6 - I do understand about what you are saying, Im sure siedler-maps is very similar to mine where users can hide their email address from view. on settlersmaps guests cannot see the member list and only members can pm each other - there is no option for email unless you want your address shown.
@ nekraushaar - Thanks for the maps - they are now onlinechanges are not a problem, if you want to change a map just submit it again and it will overwrite the original
Thanks guys![]()
I have always in the past used disposable email address's from places like hotmail or gmail or excitemail etc.
I generally like to see where I end up getting spammed from so I choose an email address at those free sites that reflect the game, such as sitename @ hotmail.com so then when I get spammed on my email of sitename @hotmail.com I know that that site has somehow leaked my email address to the public in some way whether intentional or not intentional.
Anyway, when Im done with the site I just stop using that email address and forget about it and after xx months it goes away because I stopped using it.
So.... If concerned about your primary email address, then use a free service such as hotmail or excite or gmail and create a disposable email address to use to register on sites that you don't know whether or not will end up getting you spammed.
I made the mistake of using my primary gmail email address for the sites that I regsiter on and sure enough one of them (or more than on) have been lax in letting others access the email of their members and 6 months down the road now and my spam box is starting to pickup spam on my primary, so it's time to switch again unfortunately. You'd probably laugh at my old email address that I had running for 9 years, and would wake up in the morning and be faced with over 1000 spams every single morning, finally had to just dump the email address alltogether.
