Thread: 3rd Person Cover Idea that Will Make Everyone Happy!! | Forums

  1. #1
I myself despise the 3rd person cover because it is very unrealistic being able to line up shots without exposing yourself. Its cool for Gears of War but not for a tactical shooter.

Here is my Million Dollar Idea:

Essentially I think that the 3 person cover should be turned into 1st person cover.

What I mean by this is that you you should be able to crouch behind cars and put your back to walls just as you do now but your view should stay in 1st person. I don't know if I've ever seen a game where this has been done and I think it would be a sweet feature that is realistic!!

I'm still a fan of adding in peaking/leaning but I think that 1st Person cover would be easy for UBI to implement and be very cool!!

It would be a way to turn a bad thing into a very good thing!!!

What do you guys think??<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Yeah that would be cool but... For the first time ever I have liked a 3rd person view, everyone can do it so it makes the game fair still...

I wouldn't mind if they brought this in or if they just kept it as the same cos' they would both rule!

if the view stays in FPS than what is the difference from other R6 games? u wont feel anything different and wont be able to blindfire.
also directions of movement would probably be confusing and non of the cool things about the TPV will be there. it'll be just like any other 1st person shooter.

also, this idea was put on the 360 forum before. no offence.

changing the 3rd person view to first will make the game the same as ALL the others.

3rd person wall leaning is what makes this game fun. and everyone else can do it too so its still FAIR.

a bad thing into a good thing? i guess its bad for you, and good for me.

i hope ubi makes all the other RB6 games just like this.

Most people who play a tactical shooter of this kind like it because of its realism. And as many UBI Reps have said, one of their goals is realism. Acquiring targets much less lining up your shot to the T, all while behind cover is simply not realistic in any sense of the matter. It may be a cool feature for a console game that does not have enough controls to support something such as peaking effectively but it has no place in a Tactical PC game.

It actually detracts from realistic game play in a very big way. It eliminates the whole idea/reason cover fire or blindfire and this is why. When you are trying to push up through an area you you lay down fire on someone so they will be pushed back into cover. Once they take cover you or your team can move up on them. But With a 3rd person view of the battlefield, as soon as you try to move up they are already lining up their shot on you behind the safety of their 3rd person cover system view and can instantaneously pop out and shoot you with deadly accuracy and then duck back into cover quickly before you even know what hit you.

It eliminates the skill that all First Person Shooters Survive on!! And why I pride myself to be a good FPS player. That is have having to pop out, survey the battlefield and acquire a target quickly and then taking a shot. It all comes down to your hand eye coordination and experience.

This 3rd person cover system eliminates that skill and substitutes one that appeals to people who are unskilled FPS players.

UBI, please don't lower the bar of play to suite unskilled players. The joy of gaming is found in being able to acquire that skill after many hours of practice. That is what has provided the Rainbow 6 series with such a great longevity of game play.

Also, You know whats funny... The idea of "blindfire" The idea is that you cant see what your shooting at!!! But in fact in RSV you can see what your shooting at!!!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Perhaps they should have made a server option to disable cover mode...for those that hate 3rd person views.

I dont mind it at all, after a bit you get used to it and start to like it a lot.

Each to their own though.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

EXACTLY! Vegas' 3rd person cover system entirely eliminates "blindfire"! No need for Punkbuster if the game itself incorporates such cheats against realism!

Here's hoping UBI adds in some choices (e.g., peaking; 1st person cover) which can be controlled at the server level to extend the appeal of the game to many players. I'm not going to churlishly complain that "this way is better than that way" ... after all, RVS still runs just fine on my system if I feel the need to lean, but additional options in Vegas for those old-timers who turned Rainbow Six into a franchise would be MOST appreciated.

what you are saying is unrealistic - i love it the way it is ,don't ruin a good cover , its the same kind of form of cover you would use in real tactical events, i want to see my cover from 3rd person, not see first person and can't see if i'm behind cover or not, u are making a unrealistic suggestion.. but hey thats your opinion , but i hope ubi don't mess this up because of that unrealistic suggestion, you should ask ubi to upgrade raven shield with new maps and game play and go back to playing it , stop trying to compare everything to ravenshield
or go back and play it, if you are a pro at raven shield like most of you think then you can be one at this vegas and the cover system, and i don't see any cheat about it, if someones going to camp and cover they can camp and lean- in first person or 3rd, and if you are in cover you can easily turn left or right while in cover to watch your blind side just have to think about doing it, i'm a old head at raven shield but i'll take this system over it anyday
