Thread: Blue Screen Crash | Forums

  1. #1
Hello Folks. After spending a couple of hours looking for simillar problems through this forum. I have noticed that most people are having crashes through having 512MB/1GB memory. I myself have a system with 1GB Memory. My problem is that when I play through any level of the game, Randomly and abruptly my game freezes (1 second pause in picture with constant, fast looping sound, then to a Blue, blank screen. Has anyone else had this exact same problem?.

I have found that most peoples freezes but they have not mentioned the blue screen. I have contated UbiSoft Support and i'm still wating for a responce. Recently I have played again, but this this odd time it actually freezes and instantly restarts my pc. Also once i recieved a error report from microsoft saying it was caused by a device driver... but they allways say that.

My guess is that it "could" be memory thrashing, or i could be wrong. But i thought i'd mention it.

    My system is:
    ADVENT T9302:
intel pentium HT 6.3 Ghz (2 processors)
Duel Layer DVD - Re Writer
    DVD rom Drive
    500 Gigabyte Hardrive (2 drives @ 250 GB)
1024 Megabyte DDR Memory (1 Gigabyte mem)
ATI Radion X600pro - 256 megabyte memory running through PCI Express @ 16X)
    56k v.90 PCI Data-Fax-Modem included.
    Sterio TV and FM Tuner
    Wireless LAN PCI Card 802.11G
    Compact Flash Reader
    Smart Media / XD Reader
    Memory Stick Reader
    SD / MMC Reader
    6 USB ports
    FireWire Support I/O
    19" TFT flat screen monitor
    Wireless Keyboard and Mouse

Thanks to anyone who can point out any helpfull information (before ubi support) will be deeply appreciated.

Holy monkeys, 6.3Ghz? Does that even exist?
Are you overclocking anything? It may be that something in your system is overheating. Also, make sure your power supply (PSU) is good enough.

Have you fiddled with the virtual memory settings?
Right-click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Performance - Settings > Advanced > Virtual Memory - Change > Make sure "System Managed Size" is selected.

Do you have all the latest drivers? For your video card, sound card, motherboard, etc?

Do you have any windows skins/gui/themes programs installed such as WindowBlinds, AlienGuise, or ATI Themes? If so, uninstall them.

Do you have any virtual drives installed such as Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools? If so, uninstall them.

Oh, and is this singleplayer, versus, or coop you're talking about? Or SC or SCPT?

    Have you tried reinstalling?

That's all the suggestions I can think of right now, I hope it helps.

I have the exact same problem, have tried many things yet it still crashes, completely random with looping sound and then a blue screen, or occasionally a system shutdown. Specs:

    ATI RADEON X740XL PCI-Express x16
    Intelâ® Pentium 4 Processor 640
    3.2GHzâ€"2MB L2 Cacheâ€"800 MHz FSB
    320 GB HDD 8MB Cache S-ATA 150 Interface super fast 7200 rpm
1024 MB Memory DDR 400MHz, 64 Bit dual channel memory
    8-channel Intelâ® High Definition Audio
    Latest drivers/DX etc.

The really annoying thing is that it corrupted my profile and deleted the saves. Im hoping it gets fixed soon, its getting really annoying having my comp restart, load the game get told to restart, restart, load again and then crash 10min in. Tried all the reinstall, driver check etc with no luck.

, what soundcard do you have. There are a lot of known problems with Audigy 2 soundcard drivers, so if you have an Audigy series soundcard, make sure you have the latest drivers.

Blue Screens are also quite commonly caused by RAM or Graphics Cards. Look around for some RAM stress-testing programs and make sure u have the 5.3 Catalyst drivers.

Lastly, try disk checking, defragging, and check to make sure your system is free of adware, spyware and virusses.

Hi, thanks for your tips. I am not overclocking anything. Since i purchased my system from a respected retailer i have not tweeked anything. I'm sure when they designed my pc with quite allot of power, im sure they fitted the correct PSU. Anyways i'm gonna look later inside to see what my PSU is capable of.

I did infact update my ATI Drivers yesterday. I even allowed exeptions for splintercell3.exe in my firewall. Disabled my virus scanner.

I also did select the virtual memory to "system managed size" but to no avail. I dont have any windows skins at all, its all pretty much bog standard windows xp. I dont have any virtual drives installed too.

This was when i was playing splinter cell chaos theory (singer player)

I will double check my psu soon and post back. Thanks,

    gaz

Hi antzstuff. My soundcard is C-Media High Definition Audeo. (driver version 5.12.1.8). I think we are both thinking the same thing with the blue screen/memory scenario. By the way mate, i installed the catalyst 5.3 drivers yesterday, but its still crashing. i will have a good look around for some ram stress-test software. Cheers,

Ok, i have just had a look at my psu, here is what it says.. (dont know much about psu power to be honest)

    FSB Group INC

    Model Number: FSP350-60MDN Rev.A

    Ac Imput: 230-240v-,5A,50-60Hz
    DC Output: 350W
    +3.3==28.0A(ORG), +5V==30.0A (RED), +12v==19.5A (YEL)
    +5Vsb==20A(PURP), -5V==0.3A (WHITE), -12V==0.5A(BLUE)
    P.G SIGNAL (GRAY), GROUND (BLACK)
    (+3.3V & +5V & +12V = 320W MAX) (+3.3V & +5V = 180W Max)

i added all that nonsence, just incase anyone can tell me is any of it is good. Is a 350W any good? especially for 2 hard drives & a 3.6ghz Intel?

    thanks in advance,

    Gaz
