Well, with the U-boats I think it formerly will be the atlantic ocean
But I'm hoping that the mediterenian (?!?) sea also will be available for patrols and a mission including the Gibraltar Strait like in Das Boot![]()
Most likely it will include all of those locations. Then I can hammer targets in Gibraltar again. And spend hours sneaking back out through the strait and all of those rabid British Warships guarding it.Originally posted by KaptajnNP:

JOYGASM!

Proud to be an Amoosican: Frostbite Falls is a cool place.
I guess you played SH3 Wolferz. SH4 is my first subsim, so I don't know anything about commanding a German U-boat or the seas you could operate in![]()
Commanding a U-boat is considerably different than handling a U.S. Fleet Boat.
The U-boats are smaller, handier, quicker to dive, and capable of greater depths: .....But!!
Their smaller size means reduced maximum range, fewer torpedoes and tubes, and slower top speeds.
Each type requires a commander that FULLY understands the "weapon" he (or she) has been issued!!
....As the French say; "Viva La Difference"

It's not because i don't anything about the
u-boats
I guess they are like the s-boats![]()
In WW2 U-boats operated all over the world. A few Type II's were even dis-assembled, railed to the Black Sea and put back together for operations against the Sov's. I've not heard of them being in the eastern Pacific, but other than that they roamed about every place else at one time or another.

I'd read somewhere that Japan managed to get a couple of subs off the coast of California an shelled a couple of area's, never heard of any U-boats tho, might be worth it to do some research
Wolferz, every time I've tried sneaking thru Gibraltar , I faced Early Retirement, and a watery grave
Into the valley of death I rode, but then I realized I was riding alone and that was not good at all
The German boats have shelled the oil refineries in the early days of Operation Drumbeat.Originally posted by horseman1985:

One boat (forgot the number) tried to do so too, but the crew hadn't realized (at night) that they forgot to unplug the deck gun's watertight seal, fired a shot and blew up the barrel. Then they hacksawed it off (quite a task, I would imagine) and shot at ships with it.
So yes, it happened

There is also a very interesting thing i read about the Japanese pilot who bombed America. I have the page saved somewhere and will see if i still have it. It involved one of those Japanese subs with a small hangar and catapult and he did indeed bomb America.
There is as far as i know only one instance of this so it should be pretty easy to find on the net if you so choose.
