And now, a short play about when I went to get a copy of the game.

INT: EBGAMES - EVENING

A tall guy with a beard, GUY#! works behind the left end of the counter, finishing a transaction for a PSP game. His compatriot, GUY#2, works on the right side of the counter. GUY#2 has a "scruffy samurai" look--he has long hair and a wispy beard. GUY#1 finishes his transaction and turns to ME.

GUY#1: Hey dude, what's up?
ME: Do you have any copies of Silent Hunter 4?
GUY#1: Uhhh...wait, what???
ME: (trying to be patient) Silent. Hunter. Four. It's for PC.
GUY#1: Uhh...

GUY#1 retreats to he his computer, apparently looking up the information. GUY#2, who is now refilling their supply of plastic bags, chimes in.

GUY#2: Isn't that a sub game?
ME: (flatly) Yes.
GUY#2: How did I KNOW that? Man!

GUY#2 shakes his head and goes back to stocking, still amazed that he was able to recall information about the industry in which he works.

GUY#1: Nope.
ME: . . .
GUY#1: Yeah, sorry.
ME: . . . (expecting information about WHEN they will have the game)
GUY#1: (to customer behind me) Hey dude, what's up?
ME: (exit, store right)

How about putting $5 down at Gamestop to preorder to be sure they get a copy on release day just to find out they didnt get it today. Gee, whats the use of preordering if I have to wait extra. Right about now I'm almost at the point of telling GS to shove it and just wait for CompUSA or Wal-Mart to get it. The local EB lost my business because of incompetance.

lol unluck u bud...at least the store i go to the owner is a huge WWII freak and doesnt stop talking...when i went and bought COD2 and silent hunter 3 he went on and on and on....and when i got sh4 he bought his too and was like dude me and you multi player dude...i was like yea maybe...

All joking aside, it sounds to me like you're patronizing the wrong store!

NOBODY, no matter what they're selling, gets my money with an attitude like that.

(I probably would have re-adjusted his tie for him: .....down to, ....oh maybe, ...a 5" neck size! )

every store I went into todayhad children working. not one of them new what I was talking about I even had one kid tell me there is no such game. I dont know how people are allowed to work in a buisness if they dont keep up on current events like whats coming out....

I betcha that they could tell you the release dates/arrival dates, cost and ratings of the next 20 360/PS3 titles without checking the sheets, though

It is kind of a sad comment on the "Gaming Community"� in general; ....when arcade style games rule the marketplace.

I just called EB games here local to see if they had in stock and they said no..... so i said ummm do you have an expected date...? he says not sure since we didnt get any pre orders on it.... CLICK..

Call gamestop... do you have sh4 in stock? No... ummm when will you have it? We're not sure we didnt get any preorders so it could be tomorrow or not at all..... WTF kind of answer is that...

and whats with basing your stock on whether or not you get a preorder???

Called walmart, they didnt have a clue and said check back next tuesday lol......


pre order would be worth doing if they'd ship it early say a few days but as it is nobody does cause you get it last... yet the stores are basing what they carry on pre orders...

whateva...... guess i'll just wait for crysis and hope EA doesnt screw the pooch on that one.

Two words -
Instant Gratification.

No installing, tweaking, tuning, modding, patching - all to make a good game great - for the gamebox crowd, nosiree.
We PC gamers are like the shadetree mechanics that are fascinated by muscle cars, old and new alike. No matter how "good" one is, we always try to get that last horsepower, drop our times by another 0.01 sec., and so on.
Gamebox gamers are like ordinary car owners - they just get in, turn the key, and go. If it doesn't, then they cry and pout.
Then we go by and leave them coughing in a cloud of smoke as we lay 20 feet of tiremarks
