i need to play this game windowed instead of fullscreen, but i see no option to swith it to windowed mode. the manual said theres a fullscreen option under video/audio options, but its not there for me.

You can change that option by following these steps:
First of all go to My documents\My Games\Heroes of Might and Magic V\Profiles\"Your Profile"
In there you can find a file called user.cfg. Open it with notepad and find the line setvar gfx_fullscreen = 1. Just change the 1 into a 0 and you'll have a window instead.
If you are trying to play the game windowed on a computer with two screens or more, then you may have a problem.

no just one screen. and i did change that number to 0 based on what i read on these forums. but that wasnt exactly what i was hoping for, i was hoping for an actual windowed mode that i could move my mouse outside the play area if needed, but its better then nothing.

Oh okay, well it's just to press Alt+Tab if you need to do something in the background
