CTD at beginning of 4th patrol | Forums

I can pretty much duplicate this religously. I go all the way through 3 patrols and get back to port. End patrol, pass out promotions, medals, update or refit the sub and get my new mission. I get asked in port or out of port. Regardless of what I choose, the mission starts to load and then BLAM! Crash to Desktop. If I try to restart the mission, same result. If I go back to a previous mission, same result. It's as if EVERY saved game file suddenly and spontaneously decides to get corrupt. I have already gone to the point of uninstalling and reinstalling. I even updated my video drivers thinking that might be the source of my problems. I am not having any other problems with the game apart from some lag on the higher TC settings but that's just a livable pain. The CTD after my 3rd patrol is a game ender.

Are you accepting a new boat, or staying in your old one?

Load the autosave of returning to port. Then start your new patrol before saving again.

@ catlegwest - staying with the old one for 2 reasons. 1) I'm not being offered a new boat and 2) I've read that accepting a new one creates problems like this.

@ lane2512 - sadly, while I was able to get 1 save to work, it was a while back. after I got back to port, the same thing happened. enter port, give out promotions / medals, accept new mission and dump...out to the desktop I'm deposited. I do see the loading splash screen (red bar at bottom goes all the way across) but then instead of seeing the please standby msg, I am dumped to the desktop. Windows states it is creating a dmp file but I can't seem to locate them in the directory it says they should be in (and I have see hidden files turned on).
