There are many more dangerous things you can change, manual targeting for examle.

I used to play with unlimited fuel, but never unlimited batteries or O2. I think you should try with out.
The nice thing about snorkel, is you can just camp at peri depth in a high traffic area and listern with hydrophones, you dont run out of fuel or batteries, and you just pop up the snorkel for a minute or 2 if you need to replensish O2.
I guess I got unlucky then. I was depth charged and pinged 2 hours straight (real life time). My aft batteries were the only thing destroyed. I still had forward batteries, but still, it's hard avoiding destroyers with 10% battery power.Originally posted by Kaleun1961:

Yes, damaged batteries can shorten your life. I was referring to normal operation submerged. It's more likely that you will run out of air before your batteries run dry, provided you are not travelling fast.
