Okay folks, As you have seen, I posted the minimum requirements for succesful completion of each mission. now I'm gonna post the results I got from doing the missions again and the figures I ended up with which gave me Ace.
Of the 18 missions, I have Aced all but 2- Paris & Berlin. Of the other 16 missions, I only finished under the required Ace time 3 times! On 1 mission, London, I went 6:52 overthe Ace time limit and still got the medal!
When I look at all the figures, there really seems to be no rhyme or reason to what it really takes to make Ace. (From here on out, when I talk of minimum numbers required or simply put up numbers, it means the number of planes, ground targets, and ships destroyed, and the Ace time limit, in that order, to succesfully complete the mission).
As an exampple, Holding Guadalcanal requires 5- 30-20-13:30. But I got the medal for doing it 3-22-38-16:06. I missed the Ace time by 2:36, didn't shoot down enough planes or destroy enough ground targets, but, I guess because I destroyed more ships than required, it gave me Ace.
Now lets look at the London mission I mentioned above. It requires 45-0-0-10:00 and I did it in 61-0-0-16:52 and got the medal. Apparently shooting down 16 more aircraft makes up for taking 6:52 over the Ace time! So looking at that one might deduce that destroying more targets than required is the way to get Ace no matter your time.
Another example to back that up: Day of Infamy (Pearl Harbor) requires 40-0-0-9:00. I got Ace for going 51-0-0-14:40. And just to show it's not all about #of aircraft destroyed, Midway Turning Point requires 25-0-12-12:30 and I got Ace for 26-0-12-13:29. And Desert Rats requires 20-40-0-7:30 and I medaled for 21-99-0-8:28.
But the theory doesn't wash because on Paris which requires 10-200-3-13:00 I went 15-207-3-17:29 but got no medal! To compare it to the London mission where downing 16 more aircraft than required apparently made up for going over the Ace time by 6:52, on Paris destroying 5 more aircraft and 7 more ground targets doesn't make up for going 4:29 over the limit! I have actually completed Paris in as little as 13:29 and not gotten Ace though I admit I did not meet all the requirements. The best I have ever done on Paris is 10-212-3-15:32 but only got Elite.
So what's it all saying? In my opinion, the minimum requirements have little to do with actually obtaining Ace. I can say that everytime I have finished a mission in underthe Ace time I have gotten the medal whether I met the other minimum requirements or not (example: Suprise Attack 3-0-5-6:00 I did 1-0-6-5:27 and got Ace). I really wish someone from UBI Soft or anyone who really knows would explain it all for us.
Anyway, hope this info helps someone or sheds some light on things. Keep 'em flying!!!
