How do I install maps/mods? | Forums

I tried installing single player maps to the levels folder, then went to the game, started it, hot tilde(~) typed in \mapstrikeforce then hit enter, and nothing happened. I tried this with 3 separate maps, and either nothing happened, or it went to the start a new game or resume game page. When I hit on new game, it asked if I wanted to go to new game and old game will be deleted(in other words) and i don't want to delete my saved game, because it was hard enough to get there as it is lol What do I try now?

Try \map mapname (add a SPACE after map).

hi this is a dumb question. ive downloaded the camoskins.pak file for the camo skins. ive installed it into the data folder. when i go to options i see the new skins but when i get ingame i look like the basic skin. any ideas.

Quick question. When hosting a custom FFA map for friends "all of them" have to first have the exact map downloaded and placed in their levels folder in order to join... correct? Most maps I've downloaded are to large to be sent by email so it's a been of a pain to make sure everyone has the same custom maps downloaded and in sync with what I'm hosting if you follow me...

you could always use a file hosting service on the web. just search for file hosting and choose one you want. one place is

then get your friends to download from there. hope this helps

Now I want to enter them

Pressing the ~ button... nothing happens.

I tried ~ ^⨠... all versions of that button. I get no console.

I have a laptop with swedish keyboard stup. what is your suggestion?

im having a lot of problems with maps and mods i put everthing in the way it says on the instructions and/or readmes and it screws up my game what shouyld i do? i create mods folder and put in the mods and they dont work most of the time i did get one to work tacto version 1.6 great multiplayer mod

are you on about single player maps or multiplayer maps. if its multiplayer then you go to the server setup choose which type of game you want and then the maps will be selectable from the drop down menu. depending what type of game the map was for depends if its selectable. if the map was for assault only then if you have a ffa game it wont be selectable.
if its single player maps ive not tried them but if you want i can have a go.
i think you put in in the command window \map (map name). like i say i can try this if you wish.

you dont need to create a mods folder farcry already has one. if you are installing maps then go to your root folder and place the map folder into the levels folder.
if its a mod the put the mod(the one downloaded) folder(not the files individually) into the folder named "mods" some mods are self installing. if you have one of them then just double cilck the icon and follow the onscreen instructions.

if any of this is incorrect then can an admin please clearify for me lol.
