Thread: Another question about the Gimp. Is there a 'File Info'? | Forums

    Like they have in Photoshop?

At the moment, Photoshop users, select 'File Info', and they can add embedded info to the image describing what the picture is of, the author and any copyright, etc, etc.

Does hthe Gimp have a similar feature?

    Cheers, MP.

    Yes it can do that.

When saving your image, after you name it and click save, say its a .jpg, when asked to modify the quality you have an advanced tab that you can open, and there you can instert information.

Once saved you can access the information via shift+ctrl+I.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Hmmm, not really what I was hoping for. One of the reasons I use Photoshop is because of the comprehensive file info that can be added to the image.

Once that has been done (as a caption, date, photographer, etc, you can save the caption, and then on the next image, load it.

At the moment with the Gimp it will only ley you save the caption per-image. So each time it has to be typed out, or copied and pasted.

For me, this is a great limitation, and stops it (for me), being a very useful, and possible replacement (it is free!) for Photoshop.

Hopefully a future version will have a save and load caption option, it's just not there yet

Thanks for the reply though, the Gimp does look interesting.

    Cheers, MP.
