Highly doubt there will be a Far Cry 2, but I'm sure there will be more games using the Far Cry engine.

Yes it's unlikely mainly because EA signed a partnership deal with Crytek and they are (as per rumors) working on a new franchise.

Incidentally, are any games scheduled for near-future release going to use the Crytek engine?

Well, one things for sure. If they don't produce a Far Cry 2, and EA Games gives
us a Crytek Engine game that doesn't measure up, EA Games and Crytek both will
be viewed as crooks who stole UBIs work. They've already had the cops in
their offices claiming just that. Also, there's nothing wrong with EA Games
graphic engine. It works fine, so where's the advantage in going to the Crytek
engine? CoD grapic engine is also first rate ... there are lots of good
graphic engines that are being nudged up to Far Cry standards .. possibly
better .. and a first rate story line. There needs to be a Far Cry 2 or an
expansion pack in the very near future, or all of them will have lost the
momentum exactly like Doom 3 did. I have never finished Doom 3, and I don't
want to. If Doom 3 had come out 5 years ago, it would have set standards
for the next decade, plus it would have been an icon of future gaming. Looking
at CoD: United Offensive, and MOHAA: Pacific Assault .. I say that FC2 had
better make it off the shelf by mid-summer, or they won't have any leverage
with their graphics engine, and a bunch of coders will be headed back home
with their tales tucked.

I heard that the Far Cry Liscence has been bought by Ubi (it would be why they are developing Far Cry Intincts for console)

As for Crytek, it took them 3-4 year to create Far cry so I would not wish for a new game in the next 3 month

Why? The CryEngine was created by Crytek, and the game was developed by Crytek. Ubisoft only published the game.

CoD doesn't use an EA engine because it was not published or developed by EA. They are published by Activision. Also, the CoD engine is basically a remake of the Quake III engine.

just like in the ait tech demo, they didnt say it was far cry, so they wil make a sequal (because i read a interview were crytek wanted to) but it wont have the name far cry in it al all.

Right. CryEngine and Farcry have been developed by Crytek and Ubisoft is a publisher in that case. So is EA.

So Blob, now that your back active in the forums again, does that mean you're working on the 1.4 patch ?
