    Once you go thu the above routine just go back to
    Start and type the msconfig again. When the dialog box opens under the General tab, click on Normal setup, Apply, and then OK. Finally, close out and this will reset everything back as it originally was.

    I did not have to use a program that I have had called "End It All". I think that this is still on the Net and is free. It basically does the same thing as above but might even close more unnecessary programs. If the above doesn't work for you, you might want to try this simple but effective program. To reverse what it shuts down all you have to do is just reboot your computer.

    i end enditall everyday on vista 64 bit, better than to hassel with msconfig.
