Thread: Sleep and Time compression | Forums

I was wondering... and I guess suggesting, will there be a sleep option. Being how this version of Silent Hunter, is much more focused on having you play as an FPS/RPG, I was thinking that instead of, or in addition to that handy dandy time compression feature, maybe, the player should have the opportunity to catch so rack time. While asleep the game would jump into the highest time compression, and if something happens like contact sighted, a crew member comes and wakes you up. I think this will also help immersion because this way you won't have the interior of the sub bouncing at x1024 which I always thought looked silly.

I have to say, it sounds like a interesting thing. Could have a feature like in Fallout 3. When you use the bed to go to sleep your vision gets blury of what your looking at and you select how long you want to sleep. If its 12 hours it counts down from 12 to 0 in seconds and 12 hours has passed. That would be a good feature but I still think time compression will be needed though especially if youre stalking a target.

what about switching you ubaot over to ai command while you sleep (second in command type of deal) and you get woken up if any important alerts happen ie ship sighted

That would work too. Could impliment where while you are asleep if a ship is spotted be it a destoryer or battleship or cargoship they uboat will instantly dive to periscope depth while you are getting up. But allow it where you can preset what you want the AI crew to do.

Good ideas, would be nice to walk round the boat and see crew members asleep, time compression im guessing will work much the same, and would stop on contact, will do for me.

    Great idea.

You should be able to set watches, and have watch list that would be followed automatically.

You would have to make sure not all your experienced crewmen are on the same watch.

So if you were attacked during the Dog Watch for instance, only the stats of those crewman on duty would be applicable at the moment of attack.
